N I A L L

I groaned tiredly hearing someone banging at the door. I peaked open one eye to see Mary still lying in bed, her bare upper back just showing above the sheet with my arm tossed over it. I widened my eyes realizing that the pounding at the door was probably Tony wanting to come back to the room. I nudged Mary, hearing her tiredly moan and roll over, pulling the sheet around her even more.

“What?” she trailed out. She furrowed her eyebrows at the bright light shining through the curtains that were slightly cracked open.  I had been sure that they were closed, then again I paid little attention to them.

“You need to get up, put a shirt on or something, Tony’s banging at the door.” I rushed, pulling on a shirt, not even bothering with a pair of pants because Tony was used to that. “Or get in the shower or something, I don’t know. But you need to get up and get decent.”

“Niall!!” Tony’s small voice yelled from the other side of the ugly green door.

“Hang on, hang on, I’m coming!” I shouted back, looking at Mary who sat at the edge of the bed. Gripping her head. “What, what’s the matter?”

She shook her head, her hair lightly sweeping against her back before she slid on the black shirt she had on last night, along with a pair of sweatpants that were tossed over the arm of the couch. She insisted that we fold up the pull out bed so there was more room last night. Which made no sense when you thought back to the activities from last night.

I swung open the door after undoing the numerous locks, Tony sweeping past me. “Nice to see you to, Ton.” I chuckled, looking around on the skywalk before closing the door behind him.

“How come you never came and got me last night, Niall?”

I looked between him and Mary, completely confused before bringing my hands firmly on my hips.

“What do you mean, Tony?” I mumbled, “I told you that you were sleeping there last night, and you said that was fine!” I defended myself. I didn’t want him to make me seem like a terrible brother in front of Mary.

“I didn’t know you were serious.” He mumbled, “You never let me stay at friend’s houses.”

“Did you not want to stay there last night? I could have come to get you.” I stated, glancing over at Mary who decided to cut in.

“Tony, Niall and I just needed a night to ourselves. You know? Alone time to just talk.” She smiled over at me, cueing me to nod in agreement.

“Talk about what?” his arms folded over his chest just like Mary does every so often. I plopped down on the foot of the bed, shrugging.

“You.” Mary laughed, patting him on the shoulder. “Alright boys, it’s time for me to take a long needed shower. I feel like I still have that hospital smell on me and it’s been two weeks.”

I nodded, watching as she walked away and disappeared into the small bathroom. “What did you guys really, do last night?” he mumbled, looking around the room at the empty beer bottles, and half drank bottle of liquor sitting in the middle of the table by the empty pizza box.

“Adult stuff.”

“Did you hit her?”

My features fell as I tilted my head as I looked at Tony. “No, of course I didn’t hit her. Why would you ask that?”
