His arm was still around my waist tightly, even though I knew he was awake because I could hear him whisper to himself every so often about me. This happens only once and a while, even the past week when he was starting to go downhill he had done it. That’s what gave me the most hope that we would make it.

“You’re awake, aren’t you?” he spoke up, laughing at me quietly. He pulled me back to look at him, a smile full on his face. “You’re sneaking.”

“And you’re a love sick fool.” I defending, giving him a tired smile.

“Hey, now wait a minute, I—”

“I wasn’t finished.” I whinned, “But you’re my love sick fool and I love you a lot.” He grinned, kissing me fast and his hand squeezed at my hip.

“What did you hear?”

I sighed, “Oh you know just that you don’t think you could ever live without me laying here every morning.” A smile played on my lips as I went on and on, “oh and that you love me more than anything on this planet. Which I hope you love Tony more than me, because he’s your brother.” I grinned.

“I love you both equally. If that makes you happy.” I chucked my head back, laughing.

“That makes me happy. Did you ever tell Aubrey’s mother a time that we would pick him up today?”

He shook his head, shrugging. “I guess any time would be, alright. Right?” I nodded, hearing the kitchen phone almost like it was on cue. He pushed the covers off his body, and jogged out of the room to grab the phone before it stopped ringing. His voice was muffled, and I could only make out a few words here and there.

Mrs. Thompson why didn’t you call us sooner?

What were you even thinking?

Yeah- Yeah we will be right over.

Niall’s footsteps rapidly approached the bedroom again, halting at the door completely out of breath. A scared, and nervous look written on his face. His hand gripped the doorframe, his knuckles turning white. For a second I thought he was going to break the trim right from the frame off the wall. “Tony and Aubrey are missing.”

I abruptly stepped out of bed, shaking my head in complete confusion. “What? For how long?”

He threw his hands up in the air, bringing them back down to his hips. “I don’t know, Mary. I was with you last night remember? How the fuck would I know where he is or how long he’s been gone?” he pinched the bridge of his nose, “I’m sorry. I just can’t believe he would do this. And drag Aubrey along with him. Why would he think running away was okay?”

I stood there for a moment, staring back at the man who had done the same thing Tony is doing. “Well,” I paused, “You ran away.” I said.

“That doesn’t mean he should do it!”

“Niall, calm down okay, I’m sure he just wondered off and didn’t tell Aubrey’s mother where they were going. I’ve told him once already running away wasn’t the answer to things.”

“When? What do you mean you told him once, Mary? Did he try to do it once before?”

“Well, yeah remember? You yelled him that one day at the motel and he ran off to Aubrey’s. He told me that you ran away and he thought that is what he was supposed to do.”
