N I A L L

It’s been nearly five months since we’ve actually moved beds into the new house and have started sleeping there. Although, I think Tony was missing living just around the corner from Aubrey. Because now I had to drive him over to her home instead of letting him walk. Granted it was a small town, but I didn’t nearly trust the town enough for him to be walking alone for two blocks.

“How did today go?” I sighed, plopping down on the couch beside Mary, resting my hand on her knee as I sat low into the cushions. She let out a breath, taking my hand in hers before telling me the story about her day just like every other night. It’s become routine for us, then both her and I would go and start dinner.

“I got Tony to finally go into school today.” She smiled, “Alone.” She added. “I even took him shopping for more clothes after school.”

I looked up at her, puckering up in hint for a kiss. “What did ya get him?” I asked, shortly after her lips pulled away from mine. Her spending was starting to get out of hand, and I was beginning to wonder how she was buying all these things every day.

She smiled widely, “I think you will like what I got him.” She looked down in my direction, “Hey Tony! Come show Niall what you got shopping today!”  We heard shuffling coming from down the hallway, and I assumed Tony was gathering all the clothes Mary had bought him earlier. “He picked it all out himself. He didn’t want my help.” She whispered, with a slight laugh on her voice.

He had dark jeans on, rolled up at the bottom to show the shoes that were just like mine that were sitting by the door. He had a white t-shirt on covered by a light jean vest. I belted out a laugh, “Tony! My man!” He grinned, running over towards me and sat on my knee. “What else is in those bags?”

“The same thing.” Mary butted in, rolling her eyes with a smile. “He wanted to be just like his big brother.”

“And what did you get?” I looked over at Mary, a smile on my face in hopes she got some more dresses. She looked best in them after all.

She shrugged, smirking. “I may have gotten a dress today.” She nodded, seemingly reading my mind. “Are you guys ready for dinner?” We both shrugged in response.

“Yeah. Tony get up, I’m gonna help Mary with dinner.” I tousled his hair before he managed to get away from me, grabbing his bags and ran back to his room. I cleared my throat, walking towards the kitchen, stopping at the end of the hallway and stared down at the door at the very end. The empty room, with nothing but boxes in side. I sighed, fixing my attention on Mary who brushed passed me and towards the kitchen.

“What are you doing? Come on.” She giggled, tugging at my front jean pockets to follow.

“I’m coming, I’m coming.” I laughed, my hands landing on her hips as we trailed into the kitchen. “Can I ask you something?” I quietly asked, grabbing the package of chicken out from the fridge. Something she had been thawing since this morning.

“Anything.” She didn’t even glance in my direction as she started to get the pans out.

“It’s not so much as a question, as a simple suggestion.” I paused, grabbing the bag of potatoes from the cabinet. “You can’t keep spending like this. The past month you’ve been, spending nearly two hundred dollars at the store. And sometimes it’s not even on groceries, it’s on pointless things. You have more than enough clothes, Tony has more than enough toys in his bedroom.” I sighed, “I have more than enough tools that are honestly just sitting there.” I leaned against the counter, rubbing my forehead. “I just want to know how you are coming up with so much money to buy all this stuff.” I mumbled. She set the pan down on the stove, probably much louder than she anticipated.
