His hair was pushed back from just coming up out of the lake water. Surprisingly, the water was much cleaner than I had anticipated. His back was facing me, really giving me a glimpse how strong his back really looked. I swam a little closer to him, tracing my fingertips along his shoulders. Planting a soft kiss on his neck before swimming around him so we would be face to face. “The beach is an A plus from me.” I smiled, keeping myself above the water by moving my legs as I stayed in place. “We could walk off onto our back porch and just… watch the sun rise over the water every morning before you go to work.”
He smiled at the mention, his arm snaking around my waist to pull me closer. “I like the idea.” He started, “I like the idea of waking up to you in the morning.” He kissed my lips, pulling away seconds later to talk some more, “I like the idea of coming home to you. Going to bed beside you…”
“Don’t get cheesy on me, now.” I joked, “What do you want in a house?”
“I don’t know.” He shrugged, “I guess at least two bedrooms, if I can afford it.”
“But I’ll help.” I connected my hands behind his neck, tilting my head to the side. “Pay, I mean. I’ll help, pay.”
“You, do not worry about a thing, okay?”
“Niall, come on.” I laughed, “I’m gonna be living there too, at least let me help you.”
He shook his head, tighten his grip around me when he felt me slipping away. “I’ll pay for the house.” I could tell by the tone in his voice that he was going to make some kind of deal with me. “I’ll pay for the house and you will decorate it. Buy the groceries and cleaning stuff. Because you obviously know what foods are good and what’s not.” He chuckled, letting me go and gliding back, splashing water towards me before raising an eye brow and smirking.
“Are you calling a water fight, Mr. Horan?”
He wiggled his eyebrows, shrugging. “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. What’s it to you princess?”
I rolled my eyes, splashing water in his direction as a laugh erupted from his lips. “I told you!” I laughed, splashing water in his direction again before putting my hands on his shoulders. “To stop calling me that!” I giggled out, trying to dunk him under the water but it was no use, because he was much stronger than I was, let alone will ever be.
“What about, baby doll? Baby girl?” he carelessly chuckled, finding this amusing. “What about hmm, sweet heart? Or maybe honey buns, that might work.” He smirked, running his tongue over his front teeth. “Or even baby cakes! Isn’t that a cute one?”
I shook my head, sighing as I smiled in annoyance at all the cheesy nicknames that he was sputtering out. He’s already called me baby girl once, and it didn’t seem to catch my eye like princess does. Maybe because he used to call me Princess negatively. And now that our relationship wasn’t exactly… negative or one sided it was starting to irritate me more than before.
“Just stop calling me princess.” I mumbled, swimming away in the other direction. The atmosphere had grew silent. I felt his eyes on me as I swam away, he was watching my every move. I wouldn’t have known he was swimming towards me if he hadn’t grabbed my ankle. Stopping all my movements in the opposite direction. He pulled me towards him, his hands finding my waist again. It was weird, that my skin grew goose bumps even though I was warm and there wasn’t even a breeze that would make me cold. It was Niall’s skin contacted with mine that made them form all over my body and by the smirk on his lips he knew it.
