Tears stained her painted cheeks and eyes. A bridesmaid pulled out a handkerchief, dabbing at the tracks of mascara and salty droplets.
Yes, today was the day. After sixteen years, she was ready to devote her life to her significant other, Mathias Køhler.
'Why am I afraid?' She shook her head and bit the inside of her lip. 'I love him, I always have!'
"Don't be afraid (y/n)." A friend of hers spoke up in assurance. "You'll do fine!" The other maidens nodded in agreement.
She sniffled a bit, another bridesmaid patting her back in support.
"God, I'm so scared!"
"And why?" Piped the little flower girl. Her small hands tugged on the bride's dress.
"I'm afraid that I'll be a bad wife. I'm afraid that we wouldn't be able to work out. I'm afraid-"
"STOP!" Shouted her best friend. (F/n) shook her shoulders.
"You're amazing. You'll be the best fucking wife ever. And I know we're in a church, so forgive me God."
(Y/n) chuckled a bit at (f/n)'s silly comment, but her smile quickly turned into a frown.
"What if we get divorced-"
"If you don't stop doubting yourself right now, your wedding will be next year." (Y/n) quickly pursed her lips and looked down as the other bridesmaids laughed.
The girls started to prepare themselves to walk down the aisle. The organ began to play a prelude, signaling that the wedding would start very soon.
"Have you checked your phone recently (y/n)?"
"No?"
"Well, Matt sent you a text."
Eyebrows furrowed, the girl scanned the screen and saw the message from her soon-to-be-husband.
'Just wanted you to know that I love you so much. Can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you!'
A surge of newfound confidence coursed through her body. She stood with confidence, gripping her bouquet with assurance.
As Mendelssohn's Wedding March echoed throughout the sanctuary of the church, the girls got into place and the doors opened.
Walking down the aisle, (y/n) could see Mathias' beautiful blue eyes on her.
Yes, she was ready to devote her life to him.
