Aliyah's POV:
I trudged my way towards the school cafeteria, my head bowed down, my hand clutching my school bag as I held back the pain that wanted to consume my features. Instead, I held a strong barrier, my facial features expressionless.
After hearing the news, I skipped the rest of the lesson, the next three lessons dragging on. Luckily I didn't sit next to any of the remaining squad, nor Leo so he couldn't question why I was sent out of lesson.
I don't think I'm prepared to confess to anyone about what occurred. I'm still trying to process the information myself.
I let a heavy breath escape my lips as I entered the lunch queue, relieved that the line is short.
I narrowed my eyes to the squads table, swallowing hard as I narrowed my eyes, scanning over the people say around it.
Skylar sat between Kian and Avery, with Kian sat between Seth and Avery.
I grabbed some chips, making my way to the checkout, quickly paying for it before slowly stepping towards the table.
Three chairs spread between them, almost as if they were calling out for Austin and Mason to return. However, to my displeasure, the chairs stayed empty.
I exhaled, making my way towards the table, all heads turning towards me as they saw me.
A joyful grin appeared on Seth's face as he patted the chair beside him, signalling for me to sit beside him.
I forced a weak smile onto my lips as I made my way towards Seth, sitting down beside him, opposite Kian and next to Avery.
"Where's Mase?" Avery enquired, picking at her salad with a bored expression on her lips.
My lips parted slightly, my face turning a few shades lighter in horror that they don't know.
Why did only me and Kian get told? Unless Seth and Avery got told?
"He sent me a text saying he's on holiday with his girlfriend." Kian quickly replied, sending me a warning glare.
I slumped in the seat, frowning, confused to why he's lying to our best friends. I mean, sure, it's shocking and upsetting - and confusing. But, to lie?
I exhaled, closing my eyes tightly, making a mental note to enquire to Kian about that one later.
*•*•*•*•*
I scurried my way out of the school, speed walking to hide from Leo.
I caught my eyesight with a bush, not thinking twice about hiding behind it, peering through the bush, seeing Leo race down the streets, darting his eyes around, concern filling his features.
I bit the bottom of my lip as I closed my eyes, bending my legs to bury my face in my knees, holding back the sobs for when I got home.
How embarrassing would it be to cry in some persons bush?
Leo has been pretty much stalking me ever since after lunch, as I had lessons with him in the afternoon. I ignored him, not wanting to discuss with him about Mason nor Austin.
So, he pretty much tried chasing me out of last lesson, to which I quickly raced out of school. One thing led go another, now I'm hiding behind a bush.
I know, it's selfish to ignore Leo over something like this, but I can't help it. He will pester me about it, making me reveal everything to him, which will lead to me having to cry my heart out in front of him.
I lifted my head, peering out of the hush, thankful to have seen Leo disappear.
Carefully, I stood up, making my way home, feeling my hands sweat as I grasped my bag straps tighter, feeling a lump form in the back of my throat.
