Aliyah's POV:
"Are you sure, that you'll be okay?" I worriedly ask Austin, his eyebrows knitted into a tight knot as he curls up in a ball on the side of the road, his jaw clenching as his arms wrap tightly around himself.
"I'm sure." He breathes, as I sit down beside him, Leo anxiously standing around with his hands dug deep into his jean pockets, frowning as he analyses my every move.
Anxiously biting on my lower lip, the impatience of waiting for Charlie to come rising due to the increase of distress of which Austin is in.
It took us half an hour to walk a ten minute walk here, and we've been hanging out here for twenty minutes or so just impatiently waiting for Charlie to arrive; because Austin's getting no better.
Shaking off the nerve wrecking thoughts, I grasp Austin's hands, pulling them away from himself as I grasp his hands securely, soothingly stroking his hands with my thumbs.
"Charlie will be here soon." I reassure him with a forced, tight smile on my lips, trying to lighten the traumatising mood.
"I know, Aliyah." He snaps, "you've told me a million times already." He hisses darkly, eyes glancing up to glare into mine, the intensity of his stare causing my hands to drop from his, rapidly wrapping my arms around myself alike to his previous posture as I wince from his words.
Austin glares at me before looking away, arms wrapping around himself again as he looks down at the ground, no emotions filling his eyes.
Pursing my lips together, I feel Leo's arms wrap around me as he sits on the road beside me, pulling me close against him which sends a flood of calmness to swoop through me from the previous aggravation and nerves that had filled me.
At first I tense, because of Austin's reaction, however he was paying no attention to us, so I chose on relaxing into Leo's arms, slumping back as I nuzzle my face into the crook of his neck, my eyes fluttering close as I try and block out Austin's previous words.
"Don't stress over his words, princess, he's riled up." Leo whispers down my ear, his breath fanning against it causing shivers to coax through me. "He's just escaped from a place he's been trapped in for several months, he's adjusting."
I feel his hand intertwine with mine, reassuringly squeezing my hand as I slowly nod my head, taking in his words, my eyes flickering over to Austin to be met with the sour look of disapproval which appeared on his features, his face only becoming more sour from seeing Leo's hand connected with mine.
He looks away, hurt flashing across his features for a split second which causes my hand to slip from Leo's, sitting up straight, adjusting myself away as I send Leo a small, grateful smile.
He frowns, his face building with confusion, so I avert my eyes towards Austin for a split second, recognition filling his features.
Contently signing, I sit a half meter gap between each of the boys, curling up into a ball, an alike position to Austin, my mind racing with thoughts as I process everything that's happened.
We found my best friend.
I have my best friend back.
Then why does it not feel like he's back?
*•*•*•*•*
Charlie wraps an arm around Austin, lifting him up so Austin rests against him, Charlie glancing over at me and Leo with questions filling his eyes of which we had no response to.
