Chapter 9 : And I am Terrified

Recording Studio...

Today, they will be recording their first song. Sarah is excited even though she see that jerk Gerald again. This is her first ever recording, of course she's excited.. and she won't let anything ruin her day. 

Their call time is 1PM. Sarah arrive at the studio 30 minutes before the call time. She was excited, so she was the first one to arrive. Since nobody yet is around, she decided to study the song they were going to sing. They'll be having a rendition of a sweet love song. She's excited! 

Fifteen minutes after Sarah's arrival, Gerald arrived. Sarah was busy listening and studying the song they were supposed to sing that she didn't notice Gerald enter the room. Gerald poked her arm to grab her attention. Sarah jumped in surprise and accidentally threw her iPad. Good thing Gerald has good reflexes and caught it before it hit the ground. 

"You scared me!" 

"Here." Gerald gave her the iPad. "Sorry. Didn't know you'll be startled." He shrugged and took a sit.

"Thanks." Sarah smiled but Gerald settled down and grabbed his own iPad to play with.

"Ugh. Suplado talaga." Sarah muttered.

Gerald looked up at her. "You were saying something?"

"Nothing, I just said, do you think we should rehearse for later?" 

"Nah, we still have to wait for the music arrangement." Gerald said plainly and continued playing his iPad.

Sarah sat down and resume listening to her iPad but she couldn't help but glance at him. He's so serious even he's playing a game. She sometimes caught him smiling or joking, but the smile and the laughter seemed fake. It didn't reach his eyes. She wonders what caused him to be like this. It seemed like he was carrying the problems of the whole world.

Sarah has always believed that every person is meant to be happy. It's just there are some events in our life that prevents one to be happy, but there are things that could bring back the happiness. Like for example, her father became stiff when her mother left them, but when he realized that life is short, he decided to let go of the sadness and he started to smile again.  She wonders what is the story of the sadness behind those eyes.

"Baka matunaw ako nyan." Gerald said smirking while playing.

Sarah jumped again in surprise, good thing she's securely holding her iPad this time.

"You're jumpy." Gerald commented.

Sarah sank into the couch and blushed in embarrassment.

"..and you're blushing."

Sarah became redder as expected. "Ugh jerk!" she muttered.

"What?" Gerald glanced at her this time.

"I said, cute!" Sarah said sarcastically.

"I know." He said smirking.

"Kapal talaga!" she huffed after rolling her eyes.

Sarah just returned her attention to her iPad. Not long after, Zaijan arrived together with Billy and Toni. They discussed the arrangement and they practiced before finally recording. 

Sarah and Gerald are both inside the recording booth. They are facing each other, Sarah sang the first stanza first. Gerald couldn't help but stare at her. He finds her very pretty. His heart is aching, like it wanted to explode. He wasn't sure why. He just closed his eyes and focused his attention to the song. Sarah, on the other hand noticed Gerald was looking at her with intensity. She couldn't explain why but she liked it. It made her feel the song more.
