Chapter 14 : Maybe My Love Will Come Back...

Gerald's House...

It has been two months since the Cebu incident. It has also been two months since he's AWOL (Absence without leave) in showbiz. People have their own shares on why he's missing. Some says he's on rehabilitation, some says he had someone pregnant and had to go to the US. There were also that said that he was just clearing his mind because was turned down by Sarah and he's trying to heal his heart. The last one may be the nearest one.

He needed time to clear his thoughts. But having their memories back Heaven has just made his thoughts more clouded. He thought having these memories would be enough, but now he realized his mistake. Having these memories and not having her in his life has made things miserable. Not only for him, but for her as well.

Gerald sits on the bench outside his garden with his guitar and starts to play Heaven Knows by Rick Price... It's his song for her. He's been playing it everyday since he had decided to stay away from her.

Even though he's been trying hard to forget, he couldn't. He even tried drowning himself into alcohol, but it just makes things worse. The pain seems grow each day. He wanted it to stop, he wanted to forget, but there's somewhat part of him that doesn't want to. There's still a part of him that is wishing that he'll be able to love her again.

Though she's so far away

It just keeps getting stronger every day

And even now she's gone

He stood up and went to his study room. He looked at the sketches he has been doing for the last months. He's been drawing all the happy moments they shared back in heaven. He smiled at one particular drawing, it was an intimate moment. He was holding her face, while his lips is near to hers. They were smiling. He wonders when would that happen again.

From time to time, Billy, Toni and Zaijan visit him. They'd keep updated about her and they've also been convincing him to go back. For now, he knows she's hurting as well but she's taking things better especially there's Paulo to make her smile each day. It hurts him to hear that but he's glad at least he knows she's smiling again. 

My friends keep telling me

You've gotta set her free

And if she returns in kind

I'll know she's mine

She's starting to make her own name in the industry. He heard, she'll be having her own show. She has been accepted by the people easily. He was not surprised with that, he knew she's a great singer.

Every night, he prays for her. For her safety and for her happiness. He just wanted that for her, no matter miserable his life right now. He knew he loves her. But that's just it, he just knew. He doesn't know how to feel love. He sighed and slumped at the couch. He's been convincing himself it's better this way. At least one of them could be happy.

Why I live in despair

He got a text from Billy. He said to open the TV and watch the Buzz. Sarah was the one on TV. She's beautiful as ever. He smiled when he saw her smile. He wasn't really listening on the interview since he was busy looking at her, but one question caught his attentention.

"Kayo na ba ni Paulo Avellino?" Tito Boy asked.

He waited for her answer. She's smiling but it doesn't reach her eyes. He could see the loneliness in her eyes. He just hoped that Paulo is treating her right.

"Yes." she said softly.

Gerald didn't know it would hurt so bad. He felt crushed. He turned off the television and went to get wine from his cabinet. He didn't notice his eyes is already filled with tears. He'll just have to hope and pray, that maybe someday, he'll be able to get his heart back...

Sarah just finished the Buzz, and she went directly to her dressing room where a bouquet of roses from Paulo awaits her. She was here just to promote her new show, but she had been asked questions about Paulo and Gerald. Gerald. How she missed him dearly. It hurts her that he just left like that. She wanted to get mad at him, but her love for him is greater that she is overwhelmed by the feeling pf longing and sadness.

When she was asked if she and Paulo were together, she wanted to lie, but she didn't want to hurt Paulo's feelings either. Paulo has taken her by surprise when he asked her to be his girlfriend. It was just days after their Cebu trip. She was so mad to Gerald, and then there's Paulo. He's super nice and she knew his intentions for her were sincere. So she accepted his proposal to be his girlfriend. She wanted to forget Gerald. Unfortunately, it's not working.

She knew she's being unfair to Paulo. He's a perfect boyfriend. He's always there for her and he's been patient. He showers her with gifts everyday. But it's not enough because her heart already belongs to Gerald. 

She wanted to break it off with Paulo, but she doesn't want to hurt him. She doesn't know how, and she wasn't sure if that's the right thing to do. Deep down, she's still hoping that Gerald will comeback and someday, he'll be able to love her the way she loves him. But will that day come? Maybe.
