Maplepaw sat in her nest dully. Rain pounded on the roof of the apprentice den.

She kept thinking of Hollyleaf. Who's was she and where was she from?

She sighed, getting up and shaking water from her damp pelt.

"Arg! Watch it!" Blazepaw hissed as splashed of water splattered his pelt.

"Sorry." Maplepaw mumbled, stalking out the den angrily.

She grabbed a squirrel and was about to eat it when Feverpaw scrambled to her.

"Hey Maplepaw!" He said cheerfully.

"Hey." Maplepaw mewed.

"Do you want to share?" He asked, eyeing her prey.

Maplepaw sighed. "Sure."

They ate in silence under a tree. Splashes of rain created a soothing beat in the woods.

"I loved rainy days in Darkclan." He sighed.

"Really? Why?" Maplepaw asked, confused.

"The water would make a steady pattern on the den roof while I napped. My mother would tap her tail to the beat, pulling me into a rest.

Maplepaw sighed.

"That sounds soothing."

"It was." He answered, edging closer to her so their pelts touched. Maplepaw snuggled too, glad to keep warm.

They sat in silence.

"Feverpaw!" Violetpaw screamed from the other side of camp.

"Yes?" Feverpaw called.

"Patrol! Now!"

"Coming!"

Feverpaw shoved his squirrel to Maplepaw.

"Eat the rest. I liked talking to you Maplepaw!" He said happily.

"Goodbye!" Maplepaw laughed, grinning.

He left as a thump in her heart thudded.

"I can't like him." She sighed.

She shook her head and padded back to her nest, but Dovewind swept her tail across the entrance.

"Hey!" Maplepaw hissed as she stumbled back.

"Before you be lazy, check on the elders and Snowear." She replied, glaring at Maplepaw.

Maplepaw sighed. She turned to the elder's den.

Leftfoot had recently joined because he had trouble hunting and fighting with three legs.

Their last elders, Dewsong and Amberpatch had died a few weeks before Maplepaw was born.

He was grumbling to himself as he tried to get comfortable,

"Hey Leftfoot." Maplepaw whispered.

Leftfoot's eyes brightened.

"Finally glad for company!" He laughed.

Maplepaw gathered his dirty bedding and gave him a sparrow.

As he chomped on his mouse, Maplepaw looked him in his eye.

"Who's Hollyleaf?" She asked.

Leftfoot paused.

"She was an old she cat from one of the other long distant clans." He grumbled.

"How do you know her?"

"My mother knew her. She was at the battle she was killed in."

"Oh."

They sat quietly, Leftfoot's chewing the only thing she heard besides the pounding rain.

She left and went to the nursery.

"Hey Snowear!" She called.

Snowear was watching her kits play. They had opened their eyes.

"Snowear?!" She kept screeching.

Snowear stared at her with a confused expression.

Oh right she is deaf

Maplepaw gave her a sparrow, and cleaned her moss.

"Who's Hollyleaf?" She asked.

Snowear paused, and shrugged as her kits clambered over to her.

"Mama! Feed me!" Oakkit cried.

Snowear layed on her side.

Maplepaw left angrily.

She still didn't know who Hollyleaf was.
