Chapter 15

(Y/n)'s POV

~The next day~

The peace treaty was going to be finalised soon, most likely in a couple of days. This was easier than I thought...except for the part involving Asuna and Kirito.
Even though the crisis that occurred was in the past, I still couldn't stop thinking about him. Why did he choose her over me?

"(Y/n), you're spacing out again," commented Yui.
"Oh, sorry."
"So you've gotten your powers already?" Asuna asked with a smirk.

Beside her was a small, light-haired fairy similar to Yui.

That fairy's name is Mika. She's probably just as evil as Asuna.
Huh? What's this? Is this you, Yui?
I can use telepathy. Anyway, it's best to stay away from them. Asuna most likely gained a power similar to her disgusting personality.
Oh, I'll keep that in mind.

"What are you two sneaky little insects talking about?"
"It's none of your business."

Before she could continue, I quickly walked away. *sigh* Why does she do this to me?

Kirito's POV

I noticed (Y/n) walk out of the palace with a troubled look on her face. Pfft, why should I care about her? She tried to hurt Asuna...but why did I always have a pain in my heart every time I saw her look so upset? Why did I find it annoying how Asuna always clung to me?

She made eye contact with me then immediately looked away, while walking in the other direction.

"Go talk to her. Why don't you believe her? You know, Asuna could be lying to you," Klein exclaimed.
"I know but..."
"But what? You don't believe her just because you only saw the end of the fight? That's very 'unKirito-like'. What's gotten into you? Did Asuna give you some type of poison?"
"Klein's right, you know. I don't think you should get close to Asuna," Andrew added.

Maybe they were right. Ugh, get yourself together! Why was I doing this for Asuna? Why was I making (Y/n) feel so upset?!

"Kirito!"

Asuna pulled me into a hug and kissed my cheek. *sigh* I guess I had to sort some things out.

"Was there something you needed?"
"I just wanted to see you, I missed you," she replied with a pout.
"Asuna, were you telling me the truth when you said all those things about (Y/n)?"
"Why would I lie to you? Of course it's true."
"It's just that..."
"Did those two tell you something?" she asked while glaring at Klein and Andrew.
"Asuna, tell me the truth. Why are you glaring at them?"
"Kirito, I am telling you the truth. Has (Y/n) done something to you? It seems as if you don't trust me."
"Why should I trust you? I should be believing (Y/n)."
"Kirito-"
"Stop it with the 'Kirito'! Do you not get how annoying it is?! Just tell me the truth before anyone gets hurt!"

Tears slid down her cheeks. Ugh, could she please stop with the innocent act?! I found it irritating.

"Kirito...I thought you loved me."

I didn't say anything, I couldn't. Was she just using me?

"But yes, I am lying to you. I was the one that started the fight and put the blame on (Y/n). All those nasty things I said about her were lies, I was the one that did those things to her."

She...what?! Why was I so stupid?!

Before I could run off, she grabbed onto my arm and looked at me, pretending to be hurt. I quickly shook her off and ran in the direction that (Y/n) had went a few minutes ago.

~Some time later~

I had gone to town, she wasn't anywhere in the palace. Damn it, where could she be?! I looked around everywhere. Wait, the forest! I ran there and looked for her.

After a while, I found her sitting by a small pond. She looked as if she was talking to someone. There was a young boy with her.

"(Y/n)."

She looked at me and stood up.

"Who are you? If you're here to hurt (Y/n), you'll have to go through me," the boy announced.

(Y/n)'s POV

I took William's hand. Why was Kirito here? He should be back in the palace. Before I could say anything, he walked towards me and pulled me into a tight hug.

"(Y/n), I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I believed Asuna. I'm sorry I blamed you. I'm sorry I didn't let you explain..."
"Kirito..."
"Oi mister, who are you? Why are you harassing (Y/n)?" William asked cautiously.

Kirito ignored him and buried his face in my neck. Without even realising it, tears had welled up in my eyes.

"I..forgive you but don't do that again. Do you even know how shocked I was when you chose to believe Asuna?! Why-"
"I'm sorry."

He wiped my tears away. Unexpectedly, William pushed Kirito away.

"Mister, why are you ignoring me?! You made (Y/n) cry-"
"William, its fine."
"But-"
"He's just a friend who made a mistake."
"Who's this?" asked Kirito.
"He's Suguha's cousin, William."
"Hey Will, I'm Kirito."
"Hmph, I didn't say you could call me 'Will'."

I laughed at how hopeless Kirito was at making William accept him. But it sure lifted a lot off my shoulders knowing that Kirito found out the truth.

Asuna's POV

Tch, I still have many more chances at stealing Kirito and making him mine. I had a very special power that Mika gave me. It was obviously going to be way stronger than (Y/n)'s. With this power, I could have whatever I wanted. In fact, this power went with my weapons as well.

It also goes well with your wicked personality.
Mika, be quiet.
Haha, I'm just stating the facts.
Well, I don't need to know the facts.

The game was just beginning, and I'd be the victor without a doubt.
