Derek's leg bounced as he waited outside the sheriff's office impatiently. He wanted to listen into the conversation, but couldn't bring himself to do so.

After a while, the door opened and everyone flooded out, making his head snap up as he stood quickly. Alexander walked out last with Faelyn, who's face was red and puffy, making Derek frown.

"You must be Derek," Alexander said, gaining Derek's attention, "the one who had been housing my daughter."

"Oh. Yes," Derek said blankly, and Alexander nodded, "thank you."

Faelyn sniffled as Lydia offered her a handkerchief, smiling softly.

"I'll be back soon Faelyn," Alexander reassure his daughter, "no need for tears."

Faelyn nodded, wiping her final tears away, "I know. Safe journey, papa. Be safe."

"I promise you," Alexander nodded, kissing her forehead and nodding to the sheriff before leaving the building.

"...What's going on?" Derek asked cautiously after a few beats.

"Fae's mother is missing," Stiles sighed, "and has been for the past 50 years."

Derek's eyes widened as he looked to Faelyn, who had a small frown on her face, "papa's gone to find her. He said for the first time in years, a lead has shown up. He will find her," she stated determinedly, nodding her head.

"I'm sorry," he said slowly after a pause of silence, her brown eyes looking up to him, "about your mother."

"Was your father able to tell you anything about how you ended up buried under the ground near the Nematon?" Scott asked, standing up beside Derek.

"Yes," Faelyn nodded, and the boy's shared a look, "I think we should go see Deaton."

"I've been doing research on ritual burials, but to no avail," Deaton frowned as Faelyn, Lydia, Scott, Stiles, Derek and Isaac walked into the veterinary.

"Cease your search," Faelyn said, "I know now what happened."

Deaton, who was looking down at his books spread out on the table, lifted his head to look at Faelyn, waiting for an explanation.

She sighed, "I have lived many years with my parents in secret, that is know. The last year I was conscious in was 1923. There was an attack."

"Who attacked you?" Scott asked, and Faelyn frowned, "we Dryads are a very rare and unknown creature to others. I believe many are misinformed of our intentions. I think they want to kill us because we're a threat."

"Who are the others Faelyn? Who wants to hurt you?" Isaac questioned, and she played with her fingers nervously, "hunters. Ones that have been hunting us down for centuries."

"I see," Deaton frowned, "so you were attacked. Then what?"

"They discovered my parents and I, and attacked. They thought I was dead and attempted to bury me. But I was alive, just in some sort of sleep."

"A coma?" Lydia suggested, and Faelyn shrugged, "I have no idea."

"Why did you wake?" Isaac said with a frown,I mean think about it. Why did she wake up all of a sudden?"

"Her tree was slashed," Stiles said quietly, "it all makes sense now."

"So, now what? Faelyn, are you gonna stay?" Lydia asked her.

"I-I want to. I want to stay here. You- you're all my friends, my family," she smiled, and Lydia gave her a small hug.

"You can stay with me," Derek said, and Faelyn looked over to him, and he let out a small shy smile, "it's not safe for you anywhere else."

She nodded slowly, smiling as she thought of the contrast of the old Derek, wanting her out of the loft as quick as possible, and the pack noticed too.

"Okay," she nodded, still smiling, "let's go home."
