"Mom?" Bella breathed out once she answered the phone. Lexie and Alucia were staring at her with avid interest. Somehow their small minds were able to pick up on the tension that surrounded Bella.

"B-bella?" Her mother's shaky voice sounded on the other end. Bella could feel the tears welling up in her eyes at the sound of her mother's voice. True, it had only been 2 weeks, she hadn't forgotten the sound of her mother's voice, but she thought she would never get to hear it again.

"Mom." Was all Bella could think to say. She heard her mother's loud sobs on the other end.

"Bella," Lexie whined while tugging on Bella's shirt.

"Bella!" She cried. In the back of Bella's mind, she knew their conversation was a little redundant, but she couldn't bring herself to care. She shushed Lexie and grabbed her hand to try and placate her. "Mike! Mike get in here! It's Bella! She's alive!"

Guilt coursed through Bella's heart. They thought she was dead.

"Mom?" Bella tried to start to explain herself but her mother cut her off.

"Oh, Bella!" She cried in happiness this time. "We thought- Jayden didn't see what happened- some wolf died during the running! They sent us back your phone and we-we thought that you-" Her mother couldn't bring herself to say the words. What would she say if she found out that that wolf died at the hands of her mate?

"My phone?" The words suddenly hit Bella. It felt like her mind came to a sudden halt. Her phone? Her mother had her phone?

It was then that Bella's mind flashed back to the day of the running. She had gotten up early and left her phone on her bed. They must have missed it when they came to collect her belongings. She was so careless. She thought she wouldn't get caught and she would be able to pack her own bag.

Her mind flashed to Lucian. Though she never said it, she really believed he had stolen her phone. Now she felt a different kind of guilt swim in her chest. Lexie tugged on Bella's hand again to snap her out of her thoughts.

"Bella?" Her father's sounded concerned on the other end. "Bella, can you hear me?" Shit. They must have been trying to talk to her while she had her breakthrough.

"Yes, Daddy." She said and the tears in her eyes overflowed.

"Baby, you're okay!" She guesses you could say that. I mean, she was alive.

"Yes, Daddy. I'm okay."

"How many times are you going to lose your phone! You had us worried sick!" Her mother said taking over the phone again. "And why didn't you call us sooner? Does your mate's pack not have phones?"

"I'm so sorry mom! It's just been so hectic lately..." Should she tell them? She already led them to believe she was dead. Could her poor parents' hearts take another beating by knowing how cold their daughter's mate was?

"Oh!" Her mother's sudden exclamation caught Bella's attention. She had a feeling this conversation was about to take a sharp turn into Nope Vill. "I remember the first couple weeks with your father..." It sounded like her mother was lost in a memory. She sighed loudly on the other end, "That's when your brother Michael Junior was conceived."

"Oh Goddess Mom! No-"

"What's conceived mean?" Alucia asked? Damn werewolf hearing.

"It's nothing to be embarrassed of darling. I know you didn't want to be caught at the running, but the feeling of being with your mate is-" She let out another sigh. "Especially if this is your true mate I hear. Is he your true mate?"
