Is It Too Late Now

The next day Bella found herself being escorted by Lucian out of his house. No, he hasn't finally given up on her and allowed her to go back home. Rather, Lucian had to leave for a few days to attend a meeting with the other Alphas and Lunas in the North East Region. She was rather relieved to find out that she would not be accompanying him, just imagining showing up with Lucian and arguing with him and everyone there about their barbaric system full of oppression for she-wolves made her shutter. She's not quite ready to tick off a room full of Alphas and Lunas.

Instead, she and Lucian were arriving at a charming two-story house Bella had yet to visit. It was only a few minutes walk from Lucian's so she's guessing that whoever lives here might be important. her thoughts were confirmed when Lucian explained he would only entrust his number 2 to watch over his mate while he was gone. It was actually surprising really, Lucian had not wanted Beta Slade or Bella to spend much time together after the incident between them, let alone have her stay with him for a few days. But everything became clear when she noticed a few kid toys strewn across the front yard.

"Beta Slade has a family." The words slipped out of her mouth and she hadn't even realized until Lucian gave her a questioning look. Right as they arrived at the front door a look of understanding emerged on her mates face and he looked rather apprehensive yet amused as he turned back to the front door as it began to open.

"Luna Bella!" The familiar small voice cried out and tackled her in a hug around her legs. Shock was an understatement. Bella's mind basically overloaded and shut off the minute she saw Alucia open the door and throw herself at Bella.

She had to be imagining this. Alucia, Elena's Alucia, was opening the door to Beta Slade's house? No, maybe she just looked like Alucia and was super friendly, that could be it. Except when two more sets of stampeding feet sounded from around the corner and Logan and Lexi came into view, Bella knew she had been right. Elena's pups were at Beta Slade's house.

Maybe Elena's family was over. It could just be a coincidence that Bella has never met Elena's mate yet and that Beta Slade apparently has an unknown mate and family, couldn't it.

"Daddy! Lunabella's here!" Lexi shouted back into the house as overjoyed as a four-year-old could be. As if the moon Goddess needed a good laugh, Beta Slade walked into view holding little Maple in his arms.

"I heard baby, let the Luna and Alpha come on in." The pressure around her lower half disappeared as the kids chorused hellos to Lucian. Her mate made his way inside, following after the three pups, but Bella was still frozen.

Her eyes flickered back from the pups to Beta Slade, finally noticing the similar features in them. Alucia and Maple were undoubtedly his pups, looking much more like the strict Beta than their witty mother. Traces of Beta Slade were definitely detectable in Logan and Lexi too, especially with the stern looking face Logan was giving her as he pointed next to him, silently commanding  Bella to stand there.

Bella's mouth snapped shut when she finally noticed it was hanging open. She couldn't look at the pups or Beta any longer without the threat of her head possibly exploding so instead her eyes found her mate's. Lucian was watching her with, dare she say, amusement shining in his eyes. That mother fuc-

"Bella! I hope you aren't just planning to stand there all night." Elena's voice snapped Bella out of her thoughts. The young, funny, strong, mother of four was also the Beta female. Beta Slade's mate.

"Oh, Goddess." Did she say that out loud? Elena laughed before making her way over and gently ushering Bella inside.

"I'm guessing you didn't see this coming?" Elena joked and walked Bella over towards the couch, afraid the poor Luna would faint or something.
