He always wanted to join the FBI, but his parents weren't on the same page; maybe because his grandfather died on a mission or just because this wasn't the future they wanted for him. They wanted him to be an accountant so he could manage his father companies. But he knew that he could do better than that; that wasn't his path at all. Caleb Foley was in his early twenties, 23 to be exact, his life was a mess, he was working on a fast food restaurant even though he had a college degree. It was just to piss off his parents. He was always jumping from girl to girl. He was having fun and his father didn't like it. His mother was always trying to keep things calmed between him and his father who was a very commanding person. Caleb never listened to any of them, that doesn't mean that Caleb didn't love both of his parents deeply. He got tired of the situation and remembered that he always wanted to be an FBI agent just like his grandfather who was a role model for him. At that very moment he started to wrap everything around the idea he was going to enlist on the FBI.
Caleb started to train every single morning, he usually woke up at 3:30 am and left the house without anyone noticing it because he knew his parents' position on the topic. He started doing everything very quiet. Everything was happening as planned until a letter came in the mail, his father was the one picking up the mail that day and he found an FBI logo with Caleb's name in the recipient part. Just like that Caleb's life was threatened by his father, he wasn't happy at all with the news, but he kept going, he wanted to do his own thing. Caleb didn't want to depend on his parents, he wanted to make something on his own, he was frustrated enough to let the situation keep going.
The day that everything started was out of the common. Well, Caleb went to train by himself at 3:00 am like any other day. He came home all sweaty and took a shower, the house was unusually empty, but it didn't bother him at all, the explanation he gave to himself was that maybe there was a big reunion at one of his parent's companies. He took a long, relaxing nap having enough time to think if he really wanted to go to the academy. But as it appeared he was completely alone, all by himself, no back up this time. Caleb was decided. After that, he went to his bedroom and packed whatever he had left to take with him, whatever he thought he needed.
Later that day Caleb traveled to the FBI academy. There he was, finally making his dream come true. He was nervous, his hands were amazingly sweating. He couldn't control himself, it was everything he ever dreamed, it was exactly what his grandfather told him when he was a child. He found his group of trainees, the teachers showed them the installations and their bedrooms. Shortly after that, the person in charge gave to each one of the trainees a gun to carry at all times in the campus. The training started the next day. Gun practice, physical training, cases development, fake interviews; they had every kind of training possible imagined. It was a very strong training from what Caleb could tell. He was more than ready for that and he was at the top of his class.
Six months of doing the same thing every day brought him to the graduation day. The FBI graduates were able to invite two relatives to the ceremony. Caleb was in charge of giving a speech for his fellow teammates. He was beyond happy, as he approached the podium tears began to roll down his face. There he was, the number one trainee in his class, full of achievements and ready to be a real FBI agent. Caleb looked down at the piece of paper he had with his speech. He started to scan the audience and he saw two empty seats that were reserved for the parents of Special Agent Foley. Earlier that week Caleb sent home two tickets for the ceremony, one for his mother and one for his father, attached he sent a copy of his achievements up to the moment and how he was graduating with honors. They didn't contact him once and did not show up either. That's when Caleb realized that he completely lost his family, that the only thing he had left was a dream that came true. That wasn't enough, he had what he always wanted but yet he felt completely empty. He looked extremely sad, he opened his mouth and not even a word came out. He was disappointed with his life; he didn't have anyone to share his success with. That's when he remembered his gun. He always had to carry it with him and graduation day was not the exception. Between baby tears, Caleb pulled out his gun and pointed to his head in front of everyone in the ceremony, everything happened in seconds and felt like an eternity. He decided to take his life and he did. Caleb didn't shake as he pressed the trigger. Now he just didn't lose his family but his life and the FBI felt emptier than ever about losing a great agent who fought to catch what he was looking for. An agent who felt emotionally broken and took the easy road to end his pain. An agent who was nothing but a promise to future missions at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
