It's never to late to be what you might have been...  -George Eliot

Alyssa's POV:

I sat in the waiting room, waiting for Martyn and Kaeyi to pick me up. There were meant to be here half an hour ago.

Probably having some fun in the bedr-

"Alyssa!?"

I am pulled back to reality when I hear Martyn shouting my name

I look over at the couple, sprinting towards me. I stand up and look at them both, Kaeyi has been crying and a Chesher cat grin is across Martyns face

"What? What is is?" I ask, flustered. Panic sets in my stomach as ideas pop into my head.

"He's awake!" They both yell at me,

I take a moment to take in what they've just said before I run in after them.

How can he be awake?

I was just in there!

Never mind that! He's awake!

I sprint into the hospital room and see him, sat up in his bed.

"Simon?" I start, I feel tears welling up in my eyes, as I look at my foster father. The person who took me in when no one else would. The person who, after years of looking, I can call 'Dad'.

"Alyssa! Are you okay? What happened to you?" Simon pummled me with questions and all I could do was run up to him, and hug him. I couldn't find the words to speak to him...
