"Jack? Jack. Jack!" Gabriel yelled at the man sleeping on the cot on the other side of the room. Jack was supposed to have been awake by now. They would be late if he wasn't up soon. "Jack, wake up."
"Ugh... Five more minutes..." Jack moaned as he buried his face into his pillow. Gabriel picked up one of his own pillows and chucked it at the back of Jack's head.
"No way, if you aren't ready in three we'll all be late to the mission. You need to get up now." Jack groaned as he got up. He was startled to see Gabe was already dressed and ready, rereading the mission report for the millionth time as he sipped his coffee.
"How long have you been up?" Jack said, walking to the dresser. He took of his shirt and left it on the floor while he searched for a clean one.
"Eleven minutes exactly." Gabe looked up, scoffing as Jack searched for a clean outfit. "How many times have I said you'll run out of clean clothes if you don't do more laundry. You're a mess, Morrison."
"You're just jealous that this mess got your job and now you're stuck with Blackwatch." Jack mocked.
"'This mess' can't even get himself dressed in the morning." Gabe set his coffee down, walking to the closet were his own clothes were. He leaned against the door and watched Jack as he struggled, digging through all of his drawers.
"You're starring."
"Well, I thought I might share a shirt," Gabe said, smirking, "but I'm starting to enjoy the veiw." Gabe hide an extra shirt behind his back before walking over to Jack. He put one hand up to the wall beside the other man's head as he held the shirt up above Jack's head, teasing him.
"Gabe, come on. I'll go on this mission shirtless. Don't test me." Jack reached up for the shirt that lied just out of his grasp. He wasn't much shorter than Gabriel but he still couldn't grab the shirt. Jack put his arm down, not one to beg. He wrapped his arms around Gabe's waist and pulled him closer. He moved to kiss Gabe, grabbing the back of his head and pressing their lips together.
Once Gabe was distracted, Jack snatched the shirt and threw it on.
"Can't forget about that mission if you were really so worried." Jack winked as he left for the bathroom. Gabe smiled. He didn't mind letting Jack think he out smarted him if it got him out of bed.

Jack and Gabe walked to the takeoff pad together and joined the rest of their team. They weren't late but they were the last ones to get there. Mcree, Genji and Lena stood just inside the ship while Angelia sat further away, double and triple checking that her pistol and healing staff were working.
Lena was the first one to see the two commanders walking and elbowed Mcree in the side to get his attention.

"Ow, Lena what the heck!?" Mcree turned to face her, just in time to see her pointing before Gabe and Jack were within ear shot. She whispered a question to him but zapped over to Angelia without waiting for a response. When Jack and Gabe walked on board, Mcree ran over to them.
"Where's the pilot?", Jack said as he looked around for the missing man. He was supposed to be in the plane before the team to make sure everything was up and running.
"He had to use the bathroom." Mcree replied, a bit smug. "What happened to your shirt?" He pointed to the Blackwatch seal on Jack's shoulder. "Did you grab the wrong shirt off the floor this morning."
"Mcree, I've heard that Ana and Reinhardt needed help moving some weights across the base. If you would rather do that we could let you all trade jobs," Gabe threatened, starring Mcree down.
"N-No sir!" Mcree said, panicking just a little as he saluted. He had begged Gabriel to let him come on this mission; he didn't want to leave now that they were so close to take off.
"Then shut the fuck up and sit down, kid." Gabe barked before rushing off to find the pilot. "We're leaving in two minutes." Mcree sat down defeated as the other young recruits giggled quietly. Jack followed Gabe, barely able to contain own laughter.
"Sorry 'bout him, Jack." Gabe said once they had turned a corner and were out of the rest of the team's view, suddenly much calmer. "He's great out on the field but he has no respect for his superiors. I thought he would be mature enough to go on a mission this serious but I guess I was wrong."
"Don't worry about it, Gabe. I'm sure he'll be fine." Jack smiled at Gabe. He had heard about the sort of trouble Mcree had gotten into before he joined Blackwatch, and he had been told by some of the other members that he looks up to Gabe like a father, even if he doesn't say it. Jack wanted to help but he also didn't want to get in Gabe's way if he knew a better to.
"How's Lena doing?" Gabe said.
"She's... fine. She's adjusting really well. This is only her fourth or fifth mission with us I know of. Still..." Jack shook his head, "I don't think I could do it. To just disappear like that... Her poor family must of thought-"
"Hey, it's alright, I get it." Gabe interrupted, grabbing Jack's arm. "You don't have to get all flustered. You're right, she is probably doing fine and getting better every day."
Jack was glad had Gabe changed the subject. He didn't like talking about all the problems the younger recruits had to go through before they had taken them in. It made him feel guilty. Some of these kids really needed help and Jack always felt almost like they were just too late in most cases.
"Hey, boss!" Gabe dropped Jack's arm and turned to face the voice. Mcree stood there, peeking around the corner as he held on to the wall. "The pilots ready to take off, but he says we all gotta' be sitting down and accounted for. "
"Thanks, Mcree." Gabe said. He nodded to Jack then walked back to the sitting area with Mcree. Jack didn't hesitate to follow them.
The pilot was doing his final checks of the plane. He was a blackwatch agent, based off the seal on his jacket. Jack didn't recognize him but Gabe seemed to know him well. Everyone sat down on the benches. Gabe sat in between Jack and Mcree while Angelia and Lena sat on the bench across from them, an empty seat separating them so that they both had some elbow room. Genji sat beside Mcree and in front of Angelia. As they took off, Gabe gave one last mission briefing.
"Alright everyone, you all remember your roles?" Everyone nodded. "Mcree, what are you and Genji doing?"
"We stay near the point and make sure the enemy don't get too close."
"Great." Gabe nodded a bit himself as he read down the list. "Lena, you and Morrison," Gabe pointed a thumb in Jack's direction, "are in charge of spotting the enemy and keeping them away as well."
"Angelia, what are you doing?" Jack asked. Everyone already knew, but it just made them all feel more a bit more secure and confident if they reviewed each other's positions.
"Staying under cover and waiting until someone needs helping," she announced proudly.
"If we need help." Genji corrected.
"Oh!"Angelia leaned forward a bit, almost reaching out in apology. "Sorry! I didn't mean to say it like-"
"You're fine, Angelia. That's what the report says. 'Stay under cover and wait until someone needs help'." Jack said, trying to be as reassuring as possible. Usually Ana would join any mission Angelia went on to make sure she was alright. Jack thought it was unnecessary, but Angelia seemed more confident when Ana was nearby.
"You'll do fantastic, luv!" Tracer said, chipper as ever.
Angelia smiled. "Thanks, Lena."
"I'm with Mcree and Genji. Angelia, we'll be near by. If someone spots you under cover call for us." Gabe closed his packet of papers. "This flight will last at most 15 hours and 12 at least. The mission is tomorrow so we'll be staying at a hotel for the night. You guys woke up pretty early, go ahead and rest."
"Now you tell us?" Lena said a bit shocked. "I thought we would be busy on the plane; I've already had three cups of coffee."
"I would have thought you did that on a daily." Mcree chuckled. He didn't need to be told to rest more than once. He had already gotten comfortable and moved his hat to cover his eyes.
"Hey, Lena?" Angelia asked hesitantly.
"Yes?"
"You used to fly ships like this, didn't you?" Angelia talked like she was walking on a minefield. She didn't want to strike a nerve, but she was really curious.
"I was a pilot, but fly a plane like this?" Lena giggled a little, "These things are far too slow for my style."
Jack stood up, a bit tense. "I'm going to get a few blankets."
He walked away in the general direction of the room were their luggage and extra blankets were stored. He listened closely as he walked until he couldn't hear the conversations behind him. He leaned against the wall, waiting.
"Am I really so predictable you thought to wait for me?" The gruff voice asked as it approached.
"You stomp." Jack chuckled a bit as he stood and moved towards Gabriel.
"You shouldn't let it bother you if it doesn't bother her." Gabe held Jack, pulling him close to his chest. "I think I get it. You think of them as family don't you?"
Jack hesitated before he spoke. "Not really... I don't know. I can't describe it. I just feel like I have to protect them," he began to talk faster as he went, pulling away from Gabe's arms, "Like I know they can take care of themselves, I've seen them all fight. They are strong. I just- I don't want to see them get hurt and some of them just seem so okay after everything they have been through and they are all s-so... so..."
"Strong. And they'll be alright. I'm more worried about you. Are you gonna be okay?" Gabriel's voices was soft and calming, like a purr rather than his usual growl. He reached up, running his hand through Jack's blonde hair gently before pulling him closer once more. They sat there for a moment. Finally they pulled away and went to grab the blankets they had said they left to get in the first place.
When they returned to the seating area, they found everyone but Genji asleep. Mcree slept with his hat covering his eyes and his legs stretching across the aisle between benches. Lena rested her head on Angelia's lap, her feet lying on the seat next to her.; Genji said she had passed out after Angelia fell asleep and neither had moved since.
"Why aren't you asleep,Genji?" Gabe asked before tossing him a blanket. Genji caught it with one hand. He didn't answer the question, and Gabriel decided not to pry any further. He set a blanket over Mcree's legs then sat down and wrapped himself up. Jack laid a blanket over Lena, covering her from her feet to her shoulder. He paused. He wasn't sure how to set it Angelia without disturbing either woman.
"Here. Let me," Genji said as he stood when he noticed Jack struggling. He took his own blanket and wrapped it around Angelia gracefully, just barely lifting Lena's head as he placed it over her legs. When he stepped back, both of the women completely unstirred. Jack and Gabe sat in stunned silenced as Genji sat back down.
"You act like I just did something very difficult. It was really a simple task." Genji said, shifting his position to taking a nap. He didn't ask for another blanket before he quickly fell asleep, so Jack just left one folded up beside his head and sat down by Gabe.
"I've changed my mind," he whispered. "Seeing them all asleep, so peaceful, does make them feel more like family." Jack snuggled up to Gabe, laying his head in the other man's chest.
"Like a dad?" Gabe whispered back, though he still wasn't that quiet.
"Jack Morrison: Strike Commander, Face of Overwatch, and father of seven," Jack joked, trying out his new title. Gabe laughed, but shortly after he yawned.
"Maybe it's time we take our own advice and take a nap." Jack nodded. He could barely keep his eyes open but he didn't want to be the first one to say it. He fell asleep listening to Gabe's heartbeat. Gabe laughed a little bit when Jack wrapped his arms around him like he was a teddy bear. He hadn't realized how tired he was until there was no one to talk to. He leaned on the wall, listening to the steady breathing of Jack and his children and the steady motor rumbling.
