Hanzo felt like he could scream as he watch Genji walk down the aisle. At the other end stood the man he loved. He smiled at Hanzo briefly, as though to say "thanks for coming" before looking back to his groom. Genji was almost at the altar now. Hanzo began to panic. He could hear whispers in the audience, asking why he was here, but no one moved their mouths.
Hanzo wanted to stand up and yell every possible objection that came to his mind before Genji reached the man. He couldn't find the strenght to move, so instead he tried to sit silently and politely. He wanted to cry, but he didn't want to cause a scene. Genji finally reached the altar. He grabbed the other man's hands and held them in his own.
Hanzo finally found his strenght, grabbing his bow and firing an arrow to the altar. He didn't bother to aim, he knew it would hit Genji.
Instead, the other man- the man he loved- jumped infront of the arrow. Hanzo could feel tears streaming down his face as he and Genji both screamed. Hanzo stood, trying to reach the altar, but felt hands grabbing his shoulders and holding him back. The crowd was shouting his name angrily. "HANZO, HANZO, HANZO!"
"Hanzo!" A much gentler voice spoke.
Hanzo sat up fast, taking in as much air as he could in just a few breaths. He was still right where he was when he went to sleep; in Jesse Mcree's bed.
"Another nightmare?" Mcree asked, propping himself up on his elbow. Hanzo nodded.
"You wanna' talk about it?" Mcree said as he reached out to Hanzo, but Hanzo lurched away.
"No. I... I just need some fresh air." Mcree tried to sit up, too, but thought better of it once Hanzo glared glared at him. "Go back to sleep, cowboy" Hanzo pushed Mcree back onto the bed before standing and throwing on some pants. He grabbed a shirt without looking at it and walked out of the room.
He had a destination in mind but not much knowledge on how to get there. He decided to let his legs lead while he tried to clear his mind. He hesitated for a moment at a fork in the hallways. If he went left he would end up in the training room; dead end. If he went right, there would be living quarters and then another hallway; maybe. If he went straight, an exit, but not nessacarly the one he was looking for.
Hanzo began walking straight, but stopped when he heard quiet footsteps. He turned, facing the hallway towards his right.
"Your hearing isn't as good as it used to be, brother." Genji said from behind Hanzo. He jumped, biting his lip to muffle a scream.
"Where did you come from?" Hanzo spat.
"Where did you come from?" Genji replied, disregarding Hanzo's question. He pointed to the shirt Hanzo was wearing. He hadn't noticed before but he had grabbed Mcree's shirt.
"I asked first." Hanzo said, trying to hid his flustered expression with a scowl.
Genji sighed. "I had a nightmare. I didn't want to bother Angelia so-"
"'Bother Angelia'?"Hanzo cut in. "Are you two-"
"I was in the hospital wing. Don't interrupt." Genji snapped.
"My apologies." Hanzo said, bowing his head a little. He was just hoping he could find some dirt on Genji in case he told anyone about Mcree.
"What are you doing out here, brother?" Genji asked.
"I had a nightmare as well... Wh-what was yours about?"
Genji stared past Hanzo for a moment, deep in thought. "I had a dream that after you... well" He trailed off, but Hanzo nodded in reassurance. "You know. I never came back as a cyborg. Everyone esle seemed so happy. They could not care less that I just did not exist to them. You became head of the family, Angelia had time to help other patients and preform her research while Blackwatch was still running, Mcree had a different partner and they worked together better than we ever did. I had no idea how much I held everyone back-"
"It was just a dream. There is no point in beleiving anything that happened during it." Hanzo said.
Genji nodded before asking "What was your dream about, brother?"
"It was just nonsense. I-"
"I told you my nightmare, do you really think I would tell anyone esle about yours?" Genji had a point. Hanzo sighed.
"It was a wedding. You were walking down the aisle towards a faceless man and I needed to object. I just couldn't stand at first. You both seemed so happy." Hanzo laughed coldly at what he was about to say. "Then he turned towards me and I had to say something. When you reached the altar I-" Hanzo suddenly paused, realizing that tears were blocking his vision. He quickly turned away from Genji. "I just remembered- I have to go."
Hanzo began to run off in the direction of his room, wiping tears from his face as he did so. He wanted to get as far away from Genji as possible. He turned the corner and was face to face with Dr.Ziegler. She seemed panicked.
"Hanzo! What are you doing up so late?" She asked. Without giving Hanzo time to answer she said, "Have you seen Genji? I woke up and he was gone and-"
"Angelia!" Genji suddenly appeared next to Hanzo, though he had been there for some time. "I'm so sorry to have worried you. I just needed some fresh air." Genji bowed his head in apology. "I was just heading back to the hospital wing."
"Genji, you are in no condition to be walking around. Come on, we have to get you back-" Angelia grabbed Genji's arm, but before she could get very far Genji objected.
"I need to talk to Hanzo for a moment. Is that alright?" Genji asked. Angelia seemed surprised that Hanzo was still there. She blushed, embarrassed to have interrupted there conversation.
"Alright," she said, "But if you aren't back in five minutes I'm sending 76 after you."
"76 of what?" Genji asked. He laughed as Angelia scrowled before walking away.
"What do you want," Hanzo said in a low growl. He refused to face Genji, staring down the hall as he spoke.
"Don't" Genji said. His confidence caught Hanzo off guard.
"Don't what?" Hanzo asked. He continued to face the hall.
"You always do this. You get angry and lash out whenever you get upset, you push people away when they try to help. Don't do it. Just talk to me." Genji grabbed Hanzo arm, and Hanzo finally turned to face him.
"I killed him in my dream." Hanzo said quickly, his emotions and words pouring out. "I shot him and I meant to shoot you, and I know that is awful and that probably means I am just the worst person on this planet because I meant to shoot my own brother instead of the man I shot, so if your mad I underst-"
Hanzo stopped. He hadn't noticed but at some point Genji had wrapped his arms around him, embracing his older brother.
"Brother, I forgive you. You need to forgive yourself." Genji let go of Hanzo. "I have to get back to the hospital wing before Angelia gets worried." Without another word, Genji left. Hanzo was left standing alone in the middle of the hallway.
------
Hanzo noticed the man under the covers stirring a bit as he entered the room. He chuckled as he shut the door and walked towards the bed.
"Morning, darlin'" Mcree cooed. He reach out from under the blankets and grabbed Hanzo's hand. "You alright?"
"Yes, I feel a lot better now." Hanzo said, wrapping himself up in the blankets.
"Now that you're here with me?" Mcree joked hopefully.
"Now that I am back in bed." Hanzo said, scooting as close as he could get to Mcree before falling asleep.
