The lady over the desk handed us our shoes and we thanked her politely before heading over to our designated lanes. Lucky for us, the bowling alley was near to empty so our lanes were right next to each other. I sat on the bench that was provided and quickly wore my bowling shoes before wandering around the place to look for my ball. I checked each lane, looking for extra balls when I caught sight of a blue one. The ball was the right size for me so I took two, leaving the rest behind. I turned to walk back to my lane when I finally realised how far I had wondered off away from them.
When I got back, the others had keyed in their names and placed their balls on the machine. Not wanting to waste any more time, I placed my balls down and watched as the leaders played yet another game of scissors, paper, stone to determine the order of turns. In the end, Jaehyun's team went first, followed by Johnny's, mine and Yuta's. The loosing team would be receiving a flick on the forehead and also would have to treat the winning teams.
Apparently what I thought was supposed to be a friendly match between the teams turned into fierce competition. I guess they don't want their money to fly away. Jeno had just thrown his second ball and he got a spare. I was next. I glanced up at the score board to see that his team had just took over Johnny's team. On the other hand, my team was right behind Jaehyun's by a few points. I hastily took my ball and walked up to the wooden platform before taking in a deep breath and releasing it. I stared at the ten pins in front of me as I took small steps, quickening my pace as I neared the red line. My legs crossed, posture straight, arms out, I released the ball.
When the ball released from my grip, I got out from my previous position, all eyes on the rolling ball as it neared the ten pin. One pin, three pins, five. The sound of the pins falling echoed through the whole place before I heard multiple cheers from my team mates. I walked back with a wide smile on my face as my teammates came rushing to hug me. I looked up to the score board and sure enough, there was a red 'O' written in a box next to my name indicating that I had thrown a strike.
The positions had changed. My team was now in first place, followed by Yuta's. I turned to the rest of the boys with a smirk on my face as I watched all of their jaws drop. Throw after throw, I managed to score either strikes or spares. My team was constantly in the lead because of the multiple strikes in from Jisung. In the end, Johnny's team ended up loosing. All four of them earned themselves a flick on the forehead from Taeyong as the rest of us laughed and watched. From the corner of my eye, I saw Donghyuk filming the whole thing. I kind of feel bad for them because now they had to walk around with a bright red mark on their foreheads.
When we left the bowling alley, everyone was staring at the four weirdly which made the rest of us giggle from behind. We entered a nearby cafe and sat at a table all the way at the back to prevent us from being recognized by fans. I sat next to Jaehyun with Johnny across from me. Knowing that the four had to pay for our food, the boys had taken this chance to order the most expensive things on the menu. On top of that, they ate like pigs so they almost bought everything. I laughed at the four's faces as they watched the rest order. When it was my turn, they had on a pleading look, wishing that I wouldn't do the same thing.
Swallowing a laugh, I ordered a slice of red velvet cake and a chocolate milkshake. When I had recited my order, they looked at me expectantly, thinking that I would order more but I didn't. The four boys sighed in relief and we all laughed at them. As the boys talked and laughed at the loser's misery, Jaehyun discretely slid his hand around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I turned to look at him but he continued laughing along with the other boys. I brushed it off, thinking that it was nothing and continued joking around with the boys.
When the waiter came back, he brought us what I assumed was our first tray of food. Now that I think about it, is the table even big enough for all the food? I pushed that thought to the back of my head, convincing myself that the boys, or the staff, would find a way to squeeze everything onto this relatively small table. The waiter set our food down and I flashed him a smile and uttered a thanks. He nodded his head and slipped a piece of paper onto the table in front of me. Right when he did that, his smile turned into a frown. I didn't have to turn my head to know that both Johnny and Jaehyun were glaring at him. Without saying anything, he left the piece of paper there and scurried back into the kitchen.
After all of our food had come, the boys devoured everything faster than I could finish my milkshake. The plates that were once filled with delicious food were now squeaky clean. I stared at them in horror as they laughed and claimed that they were too hungry. I took a last bite from my red velvet cake and leaned back into the chair. Johnny, Mark, Taeyong and Doyoung glanced at each other before sighing simultaneously. They stood up abruptly, causing the rest of us to jump at their sudden move. When we finally realised what was happening, we laughed as we watched their sad backs walk towards the cashier.
"Wait for it. In three...two...on-" Yuta didn't even get to finish his sentence when we heard screams coming from the cashier.
All of us turned to see the four boys in shock at the bill. We ended up laughing even harder because of that. After the four boys were done paying, we walked back to the parking lot of the bowling alley, bidding each other goodbye before climbing into our respective vehicles.
