Waking up the next day was better than yesterday.

The only reason for that being that Valarie wasn't here to scream and bring positive vibes into the room.

I pushed myself up to see everyone getting ready for today's challenge and by Cheryl's attire it was something physical.

Which is Sapphire's element.

"What's going on?" I question

"Fighting." Sapphire responds as she tightens her boots

"Wolf or Human?"

"Both I'm guessing, they didn't specify."

Sighing I return back to my room, looking for something I can be flexible with. I'm a good fighter, not the best but I can defend myself against anyone if it is called upon.

After putting on yoga shorts, sweats over it, sports bra and a tank top I leave my room. It's not fashionable but it's fightable.

A soldier who didn't introduce himself was knocking at our door when I was finished, he told us to follow him and directed us outside into what they call the 'battlefield'

There waiting for us was a man who was around his early 20s maybe even 20, he scanned the girls and I can already hear there whispers.

"Is that the prince?" One whispered but they'll have to be stupid to actually believe that's the prince.

He had reddish hair which was nothing like the rest of the royal family, his bone structure was not as prominent as the Kings and he didn't stand like no prince.

"I'm Devon Croft." The man states, "Head of the Royal Army."

So, he has an important role but definitely no prince.

"The Prince and I are very close," Devon continues, "Some will say that he's my best friend but we don't believe in such terms."

I frown, what kind of lifestyle is that?
How do you not believe in best friends?

"To be a Queen, you have to learn to look after yourself. We won't be sending anyone home today if they don't know how to fight but they sure will be put behind the rest." He tells us as he walks up and down the crowd, eyeing everyone, "We don't tolerate weakness; if there is ever a moment a guard is not there and you are captured, you can't scream for help like a damsel in distress, you take action. If you can't, you're dead." He says sharply, "therefore meaning the Prince dies along with you and sorry to tell you but he's much more important than any of you standing here."

Well isn't this guy just a delight.

Though, what he's saying is true.

One mate dies, the other dies along with them. The Royals have to be protected at every chance.

"Today is to assess your fighting skills. Each of you will be paired with a soldier, they will come at you phased and/or not phased. If you die, then you die, your life is of no importance to me. Try and make sure you stay alive by looking after yourself and yourself only."

Good God, so winner lives, is that the point of this?

"They won't be trying to kill you but if you stand there and do nothing, you're dead." He says dryly, "You won't be trying to kill them, it's an assessment and an assessment only. You say stop and it will be stopped. They say stop and it will be stopped but my soldiers are trained in precise cut throat field of duty, they won't be saying stop."

Some girls looks like they were about to shit their pants. In my pack, we fought everyone. Assessments like these were done a regular basis for us. Just not with soldiers trained to serve the royal family.
