I was wringing my wrist as I stared at the large gate but steps away from me. I could breathe. My fate would be decided in but a few moments, a fate that was never left in my hands. I would get the pure white wings and golden halo or I would get pitch black wings and horns. I needed to become an angel but I barely knew my name much less my own past or how I even died. Do I even deserve to be such a thing? I could feel the air suffocate me as I forced myself to take step after step.
Diana stepped up next to me. She flashed me a grin before running up the grand stairway. I could feel the dread fall off of me.
Diana waited at the top for me. I was but steps away from her. She turned to look down at me with a smile. The sight of her standing above me left me queasy but I didn't know why. I kept my eyes on her as I slowly continued upwards. Dark wings were spread behind her back. I rubbed at my eyes and suddenly the wings were gone.
She held out a hand for me. I felt hesitation in me but I took it regardless. She gave me a sideways grin as we stood side by side in front of the beautiful gold gate keeping us from going in towards the marble doors.
"We'll be together."
I gave her a strained smile.
"No looking back.
Our lives were in the hands of fate. We would see it through together. No matter the outcome, we'd still be together.
I should have never let such foolish thoughts fill myhead.
