The gate spread open for us and with them, the marble doors opened as well. Beautiful twin angels walked out of the doors to stand at each side of us. Their smiles were kind and loving as they spread their wings slightly behind themselves. They were like mirror images of each other. Their movements fluid and elegant as they led us through the beautifully decorated grand hall.
It was stunning to look at. With marble floors, curtains that seemed to be made of clouds, it was otherworldly. Gold and silver accented the room in the small details. I could feel the warmth of the sun slip through the cloud curtains lighting the room with its own form of light.
The angels stopped to open another door blocking the way. They motioned for us to go without a word. This time they kept behind us as we stepped into a large room. It was different than the hallway we had just exited. It still had the beautiful colors of the hallway only now it was outlined with not just gold and silver, but by midnight black and ruby red.
The two clashing themes contradicted one another but also blended into a roaring harmony. I looked over at Lavana. She looked lighter than she had before but my own body felt heavier than it ever had in the past.
I knew it.
I knew it.
I knew it.
I held back the sob that filled my throat and ached to get out as we kneeled to the angels. They bowed their heads and escorted themselves out without a single word to us. The doors were closed allowing a seal to run across the room. We both stood to watch in awe as the room began to shift and the walls began to disappear. The room began to spin, throwing us across the floor. I reached for Lavana but she was pulled away from me. I couldn't move under the pressure of the change but across the floor, I could see Lavana slowly lift herself up to look around. She seemed unfazed by the pressure.
The room stopped moving and I struggled to stand. I could feel my breathing become panicked as I kept my eyes on Lavana. I could hear the demons and angels around me but I kept my eyes on her. The air felt heavy around me as I finally moved my gaze to follow Lavana's. The demons and angels were divided down the middle but I knew that wasn't what she was looking at. I shook the dark feeling off of my heart as I stood to my full height with my decision decided.
Lavana snapped out of her daze with a beaming smile as she began to move across the room away from me. I wouldn't let the fates control me. I knew my fate but I refused to accept it. I knew what I had to do.
