My eyes gleamed with wonder as I saw that blinding light that seemed to call for me. I could only see the light. I'm sure Diana could see it too. She must have a light of her own after all. I stopped in front of it with a bright smile. I placed my hand gently in front of it. I could feel the heat oozing off of it to warm my hands. The light started to spin before surging towards me. I closed my eyes as the light seemed to fill the room. I immediately regretted the action.
The world around me seemed to shatter as I was pushed back. My eyes snapped open in time to see the light hit Diana instead. I didn't know how to react as my head slammed into the marble floor. My vision blurred slightly from the hit. The warmth that had brushed across my skin was gone. I felt cold.
Diana's face was blurry as kneeled down next to me. I couldn't seem to move as she picked me off the ground by the arm. I was a dead weight to her.
"You know we can't leave the room until we both get our powers."
My eyesight cleared enough to see the shadows she was dragging me towards.
"Have fun with you fate."
I felt tears burn in me. I couldn't do anything as she threw me into those dark shadows.
I screamed in pain as heavy cold air swallowed me. I could feel it scorch my insides. It must have known I didn't belong. I tried to search the darkness for something, anything, to make the pain stop somehow. But I was met nothing by the cold darkness. I screamed and screamed until suddenly everything stopped. Pain blurred my vision but it didn't stop any of my sobs. The shadows circled me. I could feel its confusion in my bones.
"You do not belong."
The voice calm as I let my eyes close to the pain.
"No," I whispered to the darkness.
"... It is alright little one."
I felt the shadows brush away my tears before I was overwhelmed with a burning heat that seemed to flood my veins. I let out one last cry of pain.
"We will care for you because they wouldn't."
I snapped open my eyes to see the shadows had vanished. My vision was sharp and clear as I tried to lift myself off the ground. I only managed to prop myself up with one arm before I saw Diana. White wings moved behind her to keep her slightly off the floor, a golden halo floated gently over her head, but the second she saw me her emotionless face changed as she landed on the ground in front of me. A cruel grin was plastered over her face as looked down on me.
"Oh don't give me that look," Diana's voice soft and innocent as she met my burning eyes, "I did what had to be done. I didn't want to become what you are now."
Diana seemed brighter and lighter with the wings on her back. But despite it, I could feel the darkness hiding in her shadows. My own shadows seemed to curl around me in disgust at the sight of her. She took what was meant to be mine. And even if the light hid it from everyone else, I would never forget what she was or what I could see. She was a...
