You sighed, pulling on your battle armor. You had known that they wouldn't really leave peacefully, but you weren't expecting to be stripped of your rank when you returned. You were put on the front lines and if you made it back, your spot was welcome to you, but you have to produce a healthy body count. It was everything that made you want to leave in the first place, but you knew that if they got their hands on you again, you wouldn't live very long.
"Y/n." Clarke said, her voice all kinds of hurt. "What's going on?"
"Tell her." Your commander said, forcing you in front of her. "Talk or lose your tongue."
"You can either go peacefully or watch your camp and people burn beneath us." You said, your voice stone cold. Clarke looked at you, obviously heartbroken. "Decide before we decide for you."
"We won't surrender." Clarke said, anger filling her voice. "And when we win, you can all expect to be executed."
"Strike her down." Your commander said and you hit her in the back on the knee with your shield. She fell in front of you, but refused to look you in the eye, probably for your sake more than hers. "Keep her here and while we take what we want."
"Yes." You said, keeping a firm grip on Clarke's shoulder. "I told you it would not matter what you did. Instead you forced me from my home and are going to have to watch as they make me kill prisoners."
"Rebel." Clarke said and you shook your head. "What are you scared of anymore? You don't exactly have a home."
"As long as you're alive I do." You said, refusing to look at her. You looked at the damage they were causing, wondering how savages could be so afraid of what they did not know.
