"So is it just you and your older sister Violet?" Victoria, Brooklyn's mom, said as she dabbled the napkin on the young girls cheek that was sitting next to her. She was introduced to me earlier as Harper, the youngest Beckham kid, who was six years old.
"Yeah it's just us." I smiled.
"Are you close with your sister?" Harper asked me. "I'm very close with my brothers." I smiled at the young girls sweet little English accent.
"We were closer when we were young, but ever since I started middle school we have become less and less close." I frowned. I wasn't sure why I had told them that, I could have just simply said yes, nodded and moved on.
"That is too bad, but you seem like you really look up to her." Victoria smiled.
"Yeah, she's very supportive and funny." I laughed.
"How do you like it in the United States?" David, Brooklyn's dad, asked me. He hadn't spoken much, but when he did he was always very kind. "What state did you say you are from again?"
"New Mexico," I repeated. "And it's really nothing special, but I do like it there. It's where I've lived all my life so I don't really know anything different."
"We have never been there before." Victoria exchanged a quick look with David before continuing to speak to me, "Now why did your sister decide to come study in Italy?"
"My mom likes to blame it on how spontaneous she is, none of us really believed it was a good idea, but she said she really wanted to come here so I guess it all turned out okay." I shrugged.
"Well that is good, i'm glad it all turned out well for her." Victoria nodded. "Now Brooklyn told me that you are nervous about, how do I say it? Pretending, I guess, to be Lili."
"It is just not something that is in my comfort zone," I shrugged. "Obviously." I lightly laughed.
"Well we will coach you the whole way through." Victoria stuck her hand on mine on top of the white, table-clothed table. "Tomorrow we are going to a horse race, would you like me to send some of my designers up to your penthouse so you can pick out something to wear?" She asked as she pulled her hand back from mine, her smile still plastered on her face.
"Um," I didn't want to accept her offer, it seemed rude and disrespectful to me since they were already doing so much for me, but then I turned and saw Brooklyn. He smiled and nodded to me, telling me to take the offer. "Sure, thank you so much." I finally answered her after a quiet minute.
"Great, I will have your sister fitted tomorrow morning too, I hope she can join us, we are looking forward to meeting her!" Victoria smiled and turned to David.
"Yes, of course we are!" David added. "I can go pay the bill, Brooklyn, would you like to get a head start on walking Elena back to her penthouse?"
