"I just don't understand." I had an awful headache, and my stomach was growling since I had not been able to eat since my long lost birth mother had made an unexpected appearance for the first time in many, many years.
"I knew your dad was very depressed, but I believed your dad would be less depressed if he at least had you around, Elena. He always liked you more than Lili, as awful as that sounds." Elia explained. "So I sent Lili to England, to a girls Catholic boarding school, and kept you, hoping you would help pull your dad out of what I thought was just a funk, but he never came out of it."
I tear was dripping from her eyes as she sniffed. I stood up, grabbing the tissue box and handed it to her. "Thank you." She sniffled as she wiped her eyes and blew her nose. "Anyways, I would visit Lili every summer, when I told you I was going to Nebraska to visit your grandparents. I wanted to bring her back when everything that was going on with your father passed, but as you know, it never did. So I decided to put you up for adoption, and I was going to put Lili up for adoption too when she graduated from the Catholic Elementary School. But I needed a child, I wanted both of you."
"But it was too late." I said for her.
"Yes." She frowned. "I tried finding you, and I saw pictures of you on your father's Facebook after I spent a long time stalking. But you looked so happy, it looked like you finally had a family that loved you, something i've always wished I would have done."
"My brain feels like it's going to explode." I said as I squeezed my head.
"I know it's a lot to take in." Elia frowned. "Would you be interested in joining Lili and I tomorrow for brunch?"
"Oh." My face flushed. "I'm not so sure." I looked up at Violet and she nodded at me, telling me I should.
"Well how about you think about it, and text me your answer." Elia handed me a sheet of paper she had just scribbled on. "Here's my number."
"Alright, thank you." I smiled as I took the sheet of paper.
Elia stood up, and I did too. She opened up her arms after hesitating, and I walked into them, embracing her. "It was so nice to see you again, Elena."
"You too." I smiled.
"I will hopefully see you at lunch, eleven-thirty at Jubilee's." She waved as she walked out.
"You should go." Violet said as soon as we were alone again.
"I'm not so sure, it's so much to think about and take in. I mean, my sister is that Lili girl, and she's famous!"
"But she doesn't seem that awful, I think you both deserve to know your twins, go."
"I'll sleep on it." I told Violet as I got ready for bed.
"You've already thought about it, text Elia."
