Setting my keys on the side table, I looked around the house remembering every little detail. The brown sofas in the living room, our glass coffee table covered in books and medical journals.
The kitchen was empty, the fridge probably had no food inside since Emma and I always did the groceries. It was the same old house I grew up in.
"Whatever happened to those wolves was definitely supernatural." I overheard Liam say.
Quietly heading up the stairs, I held onto the railing as I turned the corner and headed down the hall to Scott's room.
"Well, I wouldn't say definitely. Savannah's gonna go check it out for us when she gets back."
"I already did," I whispered, standing between the door frame as I watched them struggle with Scott's suitcase.
"You're back? I figured it wouldn't be until Friday." Scott said.
"Deaton thought I needed some air from my studying."
"So, what do you think it is?" Liam blurted out.
"It could've been a parasitic infection. We get dogs that come into the clinic that have botflies coming out of their skin." I added.
"Can that happen to people?"
"Yeah...they crawl into their skin, lay some eggs, and eventually they..."Picking up the luggage, the both of them throw it onto the bed as it open right back up.
"...burst."
"I'm gonna go find some duck tape in the garage, be right back," Scott said as he walked past me and down the stairs.
Standing in silence, Liam sits at the edge of Scott's bed, while I pull up the rolling chair and sit down in front of him.
"So, are we gonna talk about it?" I asked him.
"I thought we were talking about it?"
"That's not what I'm talking about..."
"Oh. That...Me." He sighed.
"I knew before Scott told me. What going on?" I asked.
"Sounds like we're gonna talk about this."
"I'm not your mother, it would be an honor but I'm not. You can trust me with anything, you know that right?"
"Yeah. It's just...she left. And I know it was to protect her sister, but it feels like she dumped me."
"First loves always hurt the most, I know from experience. But the way she said it, didn't mean she dumped you. She left you to go because she needs to think of her family first. I do that for you guys all the time."
"When?" He asked.
"Whether to let you guys risk your lives for me or my life for you. I never second guessed myself, hopefully, one day I might not have too."
"Was it this hard for you when you were younger?"
"When I left Beacon Hills...there were moments when I thought I couldn't do it anymore. When I looked down at my pack, I realized that I'm here for them, not me. They were counting on me to be the leader they needed."
"...Just like you're counting on me to be the Alpha since Scott's leaving."
"They're big shoes to fill, I know. But one day, I'm going to leave too and you need to be ready to take charge over this pack. It's time to stop being scared."
"I got the duck tape!" Scott yelled as he jogged back into the room.
Finishing off taping the suitcase shut, I walked back down stairs with Scott and Liam behind me.
