Annotations

Still: I hate doing proposals even more than I hate doing the actual papers.

Close Friend B: Yeah, I get what you mean. It's like why do I need to do it twice, right?

Still: Our teacher's a hard marker too. She gave me a seventy on that last one we handed in and I put a lot of work into it.

Close Friend B: Oh, I got a fifty on that.

Still: That's sucks.

Close Friend B: I thought that at first too but then I found out that I had actually messed up the assignment. So in all honesty, a fifty was quite generous of her.

Still: How did you mess up?

Close Friend B: You know how the assignment sheet said to annotate all your bibliographic entries except for three?

Still: Yeah, that's why everyone was complaining since we had to submit exactly thirty entries.

Close Friend B: Yeah, I skipped class that day and then I misread the instructions she posted online so I ended up only annotating three entries. At the back of my proposal she commented that while my thesis seemed good, she wasn't sure how I was going to prove it because my research was unclear.

Still: ...You're a wreck.

Diary

[Still, age 12; me, age 14]

Once Still logged into my social media account and posted something embarrassing as a prank. To get back at her, I decided to snoop through her room while she was out to get embarrassing material on her.

Me [to myself]: I know she keeps a diary... it must be here somewhere.

[I search around her desk and bed and eventually find a notebook tucked under a stack of files.]

Me: This looks like it could be a diary.

[I flip through it and find some doodles and little reminders.]

Me: This can't be it, is it? I mean there's nothing noteworthy here.

[I flip through the book and suddenly stop at one page that catches my eye.]

Still's handwritten note: To whomever is peeping in my journal I want you to know this: people are like onions, the more you peel back at their layers, the more you'll want to cry. So if I were you, I would put this journal back to where it belongs because it's never a good idea to dig too deeply into the private thoughts of another person. [smiley face]

After reading this I put the journal back and gave up on my revenge plan because I came to the realization that I'll probably never be able to plot against my sister.
