Party awoke with a raging headache. His eyes fluttered open, but quickly closed again as his head throbbed more profusely.
Where am I? Party thought. Then the memories of the ambush came flooding back.
Party turned his head slightly and opened his eyes to slits. Jet Star was lying next to him at an angle, so that his feet were closer to Party than his head.
Party studied his friend and tried to reach out to him, but was met with a sharp pain in his wrist. Probably sprained. Party returned his gaze to his friend and noticed the steady rise and fall of his chest. Oh thank god, he thought.
His mind wandered to what had happened earlier. Who had killed that drac? And why did they just leave him here? Maybe someone was severely injured and needed medical attention right away so they left them but would come back. Party's mind blew a million different ways. Who had been injured? What happened? He was about to turn his head to look for his two other team members when he heard footsteps coming toward him. He quickly shut his eyes, unsure whether the oncomer was friend or foe.
"Nova, tell Siren that the red- haired one is waking up." A girls voice called from somewhere near him.
Someone, presumably Nova, grunted something in reply.
Nova? Siren? They sound like Killjoy names. Maybe they are bounty hunters, Party thought.
Bounty hunters didnt directly work under Better Living industries, but they occasionally tracked down specific Killjoys and brought their lifeless bodies back to Korse to make a nice amount of carbons. The Fabulous Four were at the top of BL/ind 's most wanted list, and Party knew they would be found eventually.
He was snatched from his thoughts when three more pairs of boots walked into the back room.
"What did you tell Nova to tell me? She just pointed to you instead of actually telling me." A girl's voice spoke, different than the one from before. Party assumed it was the one that had been previously mentioned, Siren. Her voice rang with leadership and purpose, much to Party's surprise.
He heard boots click on concrete coming closer and felt someone kick his shoe. His heart began to pound. His mind raced as he thought about where his gun was. Could he take down all of them? He knew there were at least four, but there might have been more. He had to try. Just as he was about to reach for his gun, one of the girls, Siren, spoke.
"We better leave then. Cy, did you ever find anything that might give us a clue to who these guys are?"
Party was confused. How could they not know who they were?! They were sent here to kill them!
A girl who hadnt spoken before shuffled her feet and said, "Erm, I think that they are the Fabulous Four."
Siren laughed. "Really? How fitting that we saved them. They completely ruined our operation. Thanks guys. Thankfully, they shouldnt have a problem believing they killed them all." She left the room, chuckling to herself. The others soon followed.
What was that supposed to mean? Party was a bit offened. Who did this bitch think she was?
He got up and groaned. His whole body ached. He ran outside, limping, and watched as a car sped away, leaving only a trail of sand.
