Novienna moved quickly and soon her body was hidden behind a tall, thick tree, and her hands continued to shake; her pulse racing proving just how terrified she was. She took a deep breath as she heard the footsteps nearing her location and eyed the ditch before swallowing a nervous lump in her throat.
"I can smell you." The voice taunted her, trying to break her before even laying a hand on her. Novienna wiped at her wet neck, wincing at the loud noise of something breaking. She quickly released her hair, allowing it to flow around her and cover the wound. She frowned before taking yet another breath before darting to hide behind a tree further away from the ditch. She ducked her head quickly as a heavy, boulder flew over her- barely missing her head. She pushed her body against the tree, and peeked from the side of it watching as Aleksandria stalked closer to her, following her.
"Your friend was smart to abandon you. Such evil does not deserve to be protected." Novienna rolled her eyes at the words, before ducking again and running towards a tree in the opposite direction of the ditch. This time a sharp, branch was thrown in her direction and plunged through her shoulder as she moved behind the tree. A pained cry escaped her throat, as she began to breathe heavily eyeing the newly inflicted wound. She whimpered as she tugged on the object, forcibly pulling it out of her flesh.
Novienna bit her lip to avoid crying further, and looked forward trying to find a new tree to hide behind. I need to get further away, she thought to herself. Need more space, she continued. She listened in on the hissing, old vampire and winced at the proximity of the creature. Need more time, she whimpers. Novienna let out a breath and pushed her body to move quickly straight forward.
The tree she had targeted was farther away than she anticipated, and she pushed her body to move faster. Nearing the tree, she began to slow her pace and let out a sharp whine as an object rammed against her, tossing her to the ground. Novienna quickly turned on her back and stood up quickly, walking backwards so she could continue to put space between her and the ditch.
Aleksandria stared at her with black eyes and a smirk on her face. "Time is up." She whispered, before running at Novienna and pulling her up by her neck. She examined her face, proud to see the look of fear in her eyes, before she shoved Novienna'a body against the tree next to them. Novienna let out a pained cry at the impact, still hurting from the wound in her shoulder. "I would take my time with this." Aleksandria paused, continuing to enjoy Novienna's wide, frightened eyes. "But, I hear word of more hunters." Aleksandria's eyes narrowed.
Novienna shifted in Aleksandria's grip, her feet kicking out against her form. Aleksandria only laughed at her failed attempts to get free, and brought one of her hands up and clawed at Novienna's face. Novienna cried out loudly as blood smeared across her face from the wounds. She brought both of her feet up and used all her strength to push against Aleksandria's chest causing her to stumble a little.
Novienna landed back on the ground with her feet, and turned away from the ditch and continued to run further into the forest. Aleksandria growled before reaching towards the floor and picking up a sharp stick. She flipped it into her hand and launched it towards Novienna, smirking as it pierced through her calf.
Novienna whimpered but continued to run trying to ignore the pain. Aleksandria frowned and walked forward only stopping to reach down and pick up another. She stepped forward launching another one with greater force and watched as it stuck it the back of Novienna's thigh. Novienna stumbled unable to ignore the pain this one brought her, and began to limp as she continued to run further into the forest. Her speed nowhere near as fast as it was before. Tears poured out of Novienna's eyes as she continued to move. Need more space, she cried out as another stick was launched into her back shoulder. Need more time, she whimpered.
Aleksandria continued to frown watching as a determined Novienna lead her deeper into the forest. She was growing annoyed with the girl, who just would not die. Aleksandria grunted as she threw another sharp, stick watching as it impaled her directly in the middle of her back, causing the girl to stumble on to the ground. She tilted her head watching as the little hunter began to crawl pathetically across the floor. She quickly sped up standing next to the crawling form, and yanked her by her neck.
"I like your fighting spirit." Aleksandria admitted, staring into the violet eyes filled with tears. Novienna's bottom lip trembled as the pain began to take a toll on her body. She was weak. She could not run anymore, she could not walk anymore, and she could not fight anymore.
Aleksandria pulled a longer, sharper stick into Novienna's line of sight and smiled wickedly. "Too bad it wasn't strong enough." She spoke darkly, before shoving the stick directly into Novienna'a chest, stabbing her heart. Novienna's eyes widened and a gasp escaped her lips as she visibly began to pale in the face. I hope this is enough space, she cried. I hope you have enough time.
"Run!" Novienna screeched loudly in a voice that did not match her body. Aleksandria frowned confused as she tiled her head staring at Novienna. She did not recognize the voice, and she began to breathe deeply as she began to understand the situation. Her eyes widened with fury, as Novienna's body began to shake and tremble as it turned into its regular form.
Raven's blue eyes filled with tears as she gave Aleksandria a weak, bloody smile. "The little bird was right." She breathed out, as tears continued to pour drastically. Aleksandria growled loudly as she slammed Raven on the back, and pushed down on the stick making sure the girl did not survive the injury. Aleksandria snarled at her, before quickly vanishing to find her true prey.
Raven's breathing quickened as she stared up into the sky, her face wet with tears and blood. Her vision began to blur, as her heart began to slow.
"Are- are you proud of me papa?" She began her voice cracking as she continued to smile upwards. "Being a hero hurts." She gave a deadly chuckle as she began to cough up blood. She stopped speaking as her heart took its final beats. A slow breath escaped her lips, as her body stopped shaking. Her eyes slowly fluttered shut, as she took her final breath.
