The Vampire's Sweetheart

Chapter Thirty-Three

It had seemed as if the earth had stopped spinning, time had frozen, and every living thing in the world stopped breathing. The air was colder than it was moments before. The wind had picked up its speed, causing a rippling effect in the leaves and the tall grass. The clouds moved around rapidly in the sky, enhancing the moon's beauty.

Aleksandria stood tall with her warm hands wrapped tightly in a firm grip around Novienna's neck, not allowing her the chance to breathe. Nova's eyes were fluttering shut, as her face began to turn a bright red, her cheeks puffing up. Aleksandria watched as the life of the little hunter began to slowly shorten, her guard was still up despite her personal victory. She knew it was wrong. Being able to kill the hunter was wrong. Not wrong morally, but for the simple fact that she should not be able to because of what the Muse predicted. As much as she hated to admit it, she herself knew that muses were never wrong. She was not supposed to be the one to kill the girl, so where is the one who was to stop her?

Interrupting her thoughts, there was a shifting blur in the distance. Her lip twitched in agitation.

Her vision sharpened on the tall, lean figure standing a few yards away from where she stood. She could easily recognize the angry vampire. A sly smile made its way on her face, and she released the hunter; watching as she crumbled to the ground unconscious. A slight whimper escaping her lips as her lips opened trying to form an entrance for air.

"You are not blind nor a wolf." Aleksandria spoke aloud, creeping towards Locaine slightly as he continued to stalk towards her. His clothes were stained with dark blood, as he huffed furiously in her direction.

"No. But I am angry." He bared his fangs in her direction, ignoring the sting of pain in his body from threatening his sire.

"You cannot hurt me, Locaine." Aleksandria stood tall in front of him, power radiating off her body. Locaine's gaze flickered in Novienna's direction, as her eyes were still closed; a peaceful glow settled on her face, as she was content with the darkness. Locaine's heart clenched at the sight.

"But I can." The voice surprised the two, as they each looked around for the source.

Khai breathed deeply before she stepped out into the clearing, the two vampires' backs facing her.

"Hope for peace is not a justifiable reason to kill an innocent." The Russian vampire whipped her head around, her red eyes narrowing in on the new comer. She turned her body slowly, coming face to face with the small werewolf.

"There are other Valentina Hunters, whose deaths would be beneficial to all. Yet, you have been chasing Novienna, a girl who has never taken a life and possibly never will." Khai kept her eyes straight, not wanting to give any hint to the vampire that she could indeed see. "Why is that?" She tilted her head in curiosity.

Aleksandria stared at the small girl, questioning if this was who was supposed to end her life. She eyed her frame and awkward posture, she certainly did not look strong enough but looks can be deceiving.
