Chapter Thirteen: Crumbling.

“Let’s go!” Brenda shouts behind them suddenly.

Katherine turns to Brenda and smiles before chasing after her, “C'mon, guys. What’re you all waiting for? An invitation? Let’s go!” Katherine shouts without glancing back.

She was smart enough to now they weren’t following behind the two ladies.

“Hey, Brenda. . . Thanks. . . You know, for, uh, that back there. . .” Katherine says, Brenda doesn’t stop. Instead she only shrugs.

“Eh, I need to keep Jorge’s friends alive, don’t I?”

“I’m serious, Brenda. Thank you. If it weren’t for you, he’d probably of grabbed me and tossed me into the pit. And I’m sorry. . . I’m sorry for saying that stuff to you earlier.”

“It’s okay. I had to do it, anyways.”

Katherine was sick of this, Katherine was being sincere to the girl she offended earlier and she just brushed her off like nothing?

Katherine glanced at her friends before grabbing Brenda’s forearm and stopping her.

“Brenda, can you just shut your shuck mouth for a second and accept my sincere apology and gratitude?”

Brenda’s face softens and she smiles, “Fine. I forgive you, you’re welcome, and I’m sorry, too.”

Then, when the other caught up. They continued to walk when suddenly a song started playing all around them.

Katherine slows down a bit and stares at the rusty red pillars around them, Newt grabs her arm gently and drags her up some stairs.

“Brenda! Hurry, we don’t have much time.” Jorge says, and he then begins to lead them elsewhere.

“Run. Run. Run.” He shouts at them since they were sorta behind.

“Just through here.” He pushes open some large doors and reveal a large trench under them, a zipline tied to the other building across from the one they where currently on.

“Okay! Okay, this—this is nice. This is—okay!” Katherine says and spreads her arms out wide. “I thought we’re trying to escape WICKED not get captured.”

“This has to be some kind of joke.” Frypan says, the engines in Katherine’s head begin to function and finally something clicks in her head.

Her pale eyes widen and turn a shade paler, she glances down at the dark trench, “You can’t be serious. . .”

“Plan B, hermano. If you want to go to the Safe Haven, I will take you there, but you’re going to owe me.” Jorge looks at Thomas and Thomas nods.

“Wo-ho-ho! Stop right there. How can we trust you?” Katherine asks and crosses her arms while eyeing Jorge suspiciously.

Jorge yanks down a harness and looks at everyone who nods, well, except for Katherine.

Okay, so, apparently everyone is telepathic and trusts this lunatic. How lovely.

Then, Jorge launched himself off the edge.

“Follow me!” He yells, leaving behind only the echo of the fading me. Brenda yanks down another harness and looks at them expectantly.

Holy God, these weirdos are serious. . .

“You heard him. Now, hurry!” Brenda says.

Thomas looks at them, and nods “Come on, everyone!” Thomas starts pushing them forward.
