Ch.4 Break Up

At the Beach

~ Chase's Thoughts ~
Why can't I move on?! My feelings are killing me! I like her for a minute than the next she is just a friend to me. I want to date her though. But then Marshall will HATE me. I don't want to ruin his life, if he knew I would do something like this he would've never have saved me in the first place. Wait, I hear someone coming.

Skye: "Hey, Chase."

The German Shepherd turns around.

Chase: "Skye? You shouldn't be here. I want to be alone right now."

Skye reaches for his arm but Chase moves away.

Chase: "And you're supposed to be with Marshall."

Skye: "I know but don't think I actually have feelings for him. You know I didn't really have a choice."

Chase: "I know what you mean."

Skye: "Do you? Don't you like Everest?"

He turns away from her and looks at the navy blue ocean in front of them.

Skye: "So, no?" She concludes.

Chase: "Listen, Skye it's not like that changes anything. We-"

Skye: "How did she make you get into a relationship with her? Did that witch give you a love potion or something?"

The tiniest smile appears on Chase's face.

Chase: "Well, no, not exactly. Marshall wouldn't just-"

Skye: "Aha! It always has to do something with Marshall."

Chase: "It's... it's hard to explain."

Skye: "Really?" She doubts.

Chase: "Well... at the end of the day we can't date but-"

Skye: "Exactly." She sighs. "That's not what I want."

Chase: "Believe me, if I could change this, I would."

Skye: "But you can..."

The BEEP of Chase's Pup Tag catches his attention.

Chase: "I have to go, Skye."

Skye: "Why? Who's beeping you?"

Chase: "Skye, I just... I have to go before..."

Skye: "Before what?"

Chase: "Before someone finds out too much."

He darts away, leaving Skye wondering.

Chase's Dog House

Chase: "What do you think you're doing?!"

Everest: "Just looking if I can find anything worth looking at... wait a second... I did." She says with a sly smile. "What's this?"

The Husky shows Chase the picture of him and Skye with the heart around her. He snatches it away from her grasp.

Chase: "I know that's not all you saw."

Everest: "Oh, you're too smart to be fooled."

Chase: "My locked box. Give it to me."

Everest: "I should but before that did you seriously, blended it in the wall? Very clever. But oh well, as your new girlfriend I demand to know anything you're hiding from me."

Everest: "So, what's in the box?"

Chase: "Nothing that you need to know."

Everest: "I may not need to but I want to. Let's make this quick and just give me the password."

Chase: "I'll never tell you." He growls.

He attempts to swipe the box but Everest moves it just out of reach for him.

Everest: "Come on, Chasey. I'm going to find out so just tell me now."

Chase: "No. I don't trust you."

Everest: "Then who do you trust, huh?"

Chase: "No one like you."

Everest: "Stop making this hard, Chasey. I just-"

Chase: "Stop calling me that!"

Everest: "I'll call you whatever I want! What's the password to the box? What's the big deal?!"

Chase: "No." He says calmly.

Everest: "What?!"

Chase: "I won't tell you. You have to earn my trust and the way your doing it right now, it's not going to happen."

Everest: "Chasey-"

Chase: "Stop. You can't call me that anymore."

Everest: "And why not?!"

Chase: "Because... because I'm breaking up with you. Even if we were technically never together in the first place!"

Everest: "What?! No, you can't! That wasn't part of the plan!"

Chase: "Forget it, Everest. I don't care! It's over!"

Everest: "This is all Skye's fault! I know you still like her! You can't move on!"

Chase: "Get out."

Everest: "I hope everyone finds out all your secrets!"

Chase: "Get out!"

Everest: "Fine but I'm not done with you yet."

She exits with a menacing glare. As he goes to close his door a couple minutes later, something prevents him from shutting himself inside.

Rocky: "Congrats on dumping her!"

Zuma: "Finally, dude."

Rubble: "Who needs her anyways, right?"

Chase: "You all heard?"

Rubble: "Let's just say we heard enough of what we wanted."

Rocky: "Yeah that relationship went bad real quick."

Chase: "Wait, all of you were spying on me?"

Zuma: "Mowe like ovewheawd. You two wewe awguing weally badly, dude."

Chase: "I... I didn't even notice. Sorry about that."

Rubble: "What were you both talking about before we came?"

Chase: "It doesn't matter."

Rocky: "Well, whatever it was, I hope no one ever brings it up again."

Chase: "Yeah, I hope so too."

Zuma: "But who cawes! Evewest is gone and out of youw life, dude."

Chase: "I hope you're right." He sighs. "Is that all you heard from that conversation?"

Rocky: "The thing that we definitely know is that one couple is down and there is only one more to go."

Chase: "Huh?"

Rocky: "Nothing."

Rubble: "But let's celebrate! Dog treats on me!"

Rocky: "Yes!"

Zuma: "Cool, let's go dudes."

Chase: "I'll catch up later guys. You go along I have to do something."

Rubble: "Fine but just so you know we may eat your half." He chuckles as he walks away with Zuma and Rocky.

Once the coast is clear, the German Shepherd goes inside his dog house and shuts the door.

Chase: "Ugh, why do I still have you?"

He touches his box. Then places it back where it was hidden. Chase doesn't realize he's staring at his wall until a knock on the door breaks his concentration.

Chase: "Alright, alright I'm coming."

The Shepherd opens the door only to be met with an unexpected face.

???: "You dumped Everest?"
