Ch.19 The Dream

~Skye's Thoughts~

I hate this... Chase is basically acting like I don't even exist and it's not that hard to see why. But it still hurts because I still care about him. Deeply. Things are just different now. And I wonder if Chase still feels the same way about me. I don't know... But I have doubts now because he's trying to find the girl that saved his life. He is going to fall in love with her and love her more than anyone else, even me... And what do I even do about that? What can I do?

Then at the corner of Skye's eye she spots Marshall and Everest approaching her.

Skye: "What do you guys want?"

Everest: "We just came here to see how you're feeling and Marshall has something he wants to say to you."

The Dalmatian sits next to Everest who sits next to Skye. Everest nudges Marshall.

Marshall: "Fine, okay. Skye, I-"

Skye: "I'd feel better if you guys weren't here."

Brief pause.

Everest: "Ouch. Tell us how you really feel."

Marshall: "Geez."

Everest: "Come on, Skye, you clearly want to talk to someone. Who knows? Maybe you'll feel better."

Skye: "Well-"

As if they came out of thin air, Rocky tackles Marshall to the ground and Zuma corners Everest. Rubble marches up to Skye.

Rocky: "What are you doing, coward?"

Zuma: "Yeah, we want an answew from you too, Evewest."

Rubble: "They didn't hurt you or anything, right, Skye?"

Skye: "What? No! I'm fine. They were just talking to me. Let them go!"

Zuma lets Everest off the hook but Rocky wasn't moving an inch.

Rocky: "Yeah, right." He sarcastically remarks. "This one is full of surprises. I don't trust him."

Everest: "Well, trust me when I say that if he does do something stupid I'll slap him! Let him get up."

The Mixed Breed steps off. Everest helps Marshall to his feet.

Rocky: "What are you guys together or something?"

Everest: "As if!"

Marshall: "Shut up, Rocky."

Rocky: "Oh what are going to do, Marshall? Knock me out again?"

Marshall: "Maybe I will! Then you'll let me explain myself!"

Everest: "Stop bickering you two!"

Both Rocky and Marshall back down but still glare at each other as if to say 'We will settle this later'.

Skye: "All of this is crazy! I don't need everyone acting differently around me just because Chase and I are taking a break."

Rubble: "Wait, what?! Really?"

Skye: "Yeah..."

Rocky: "Some time apart can't hurt."

Everest: "That's what I'm saying! Sometimes it's important to take a step back and really think if it's all worth it."

And just for a split second Marshall spots an impressed look in Rocky's eyes as he admires her words. The Dalmatian's eyebrow furrow.

Marshall: "Anyways!"
