Ch.9 Evidence

Inside the Lookout

Nervously, Marshall walks in and sees everyone playing Pup Pup Boogie.

Chase: "Nice of you to join us, Marshall. You want a turn?"

Everyone else ignores the Dalmatian.

Marshall: "Uh, no. I'm good. I have to um find Ryder and ask him something."

Chase: "Alright but I'll save you a spot just in case."

The Dalmatian's throat tightens and swallows hard, feeling the sudden urge to cry but he doesn't give into it.

Marshall: "Uh... thanks, Chase." His voice shakes.

Chase: "Is everything okay?"

Marshall: "Yeah, yeah..." He clears his throat. "I'm good. I'll see you later."

He walks into the elevator. Chase turns to the rest of the team.

Skye: "Chase, what was that?"

Chase: "What? I was just trying to be nice."

Zuma: "Dude he doesn't desewve to be tweated nice."

Chase: "Oh, come on. You guys can't stay mad at him forever."

Rocky: "You sure?"

Chase: "He's not a bad guy."

Skye: "Chase, I don't care if he saved your life later all those years ago, he's ruining your life now.

Chase: "That's no excuse to ruin his."

A beat of silence.

Skye: "You have a good heart, Chase. That's what I love about you the most."

The German Shepherd glances at her before wrapping an arm around her.

Chase: "Well, it's not hard to do when I'm around you Skye since you bring out the good in people."

Rocky: "Whatever you say Romeo." He taunts.

The couple blushes.

Skye: "Come on, the next game is me versus Chase." She smirks.

Chase: "Oh, it's on."

At the Top of the Lookout

Marshall: "Hey, Ryder!"

Ryder: "Oh, hey Marshall. What's up?"

The boy goes back to typing things into the tower's main computer.

Marshall: "I'm just wondering if you're going to see Katie any time soon today?"

Ryder: "No, why? Is something wrong?"

Marshall: "Uh, I'll explain myself on the way over there."

At Katie's

As Ryder and Marshall walk through the door they finish their discussion.

Marshall: "So that's why I am here today, to become a better medic!" He lies.

Ryder: "Um, okay? Nothing wrong with that I guess." He spots Katie. "Hey, Katie!"

Katie: "Hey, Ryder and Marshall. Can I help you with anything today?"

Marshall: "Yeah, hey. And can I talk to you... Privately?"

Katie: "Sure. This will be a second, Ryder."
