The short haired brunette girl walked to school alone after dropping her little sister off at daycare. Millie has become responsible for Ava Brown since their parents had died last year. In fact, they died one year ago from today, February sixteenth, two thousand seventeen. It was just three days before her birthday. Millie was depressed. She tried to put on a smile and feel happy, but she just couldn't fake her way through it all. Struggling to take care of Ava and to keep good grades in school. Yep, Millie has a tough life for a seventeen year old girl, but she stays positive through it all, most of the time.

As Millie silently reached the familiar building, she let out a big sigh and made her way to the doors that lead her inside the school. Millie hated school, she sometimes feels invisible. She rather stay home and cry herself to sleep. Once she approached the big doors and opened them, an unfamiliar face holding a stack of books accidentally bumped into her, causing the boy to drop his books on the ground.

Millie looked up at the boy with an embarrassed look on her face. As for the boy, he just smiled and bent down to pick up his books. "I'm so sorry." He started to nervously chuckle. Millie quickly bent down next to him to help. "No, I'm sorry. I should've been paying attention." She quickly apologized in her faded English accent that she had developed when she was living in England as a child and the beginning of her teenage years.

When the two finished picking up the books, they stood up straight and looked at each other, observing their facial structures. Millie found the boy's dark brown eyes, raven hair, and freckles to be very attractive. She even smiled a bit, showing her teeth. "I'm Millie." She greeted, sticking out her hand for the boy to shake. He flashed a smile and did just that. "Finn." Is all he said. Millie noticed that he was wearing worn out black leather gloves, but she didn't really want to bring it up. It did intrigue her.

They let go of each other's hands. Millie tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before speaking up again. "Are you new here? I've never seen you before." Finn looked down at the ground for a moment and cleared his throat. "I uh, yeah. I guess you could say that." He states. Millie pursed her lips together and nods. "Well, welcome to hell. We have many different circles here, kind of like Dante's Inferno." Millie joked, earning a laugh from Finn.

Millie was starting to like this guy. He seems nice. Their conversation was interrupted by Millie's best friend Iris Apatow. She ran up to Millie, her long blonde hair hitting the sides of her face as she came to a stop and rest her elbow on Millie's shoulder. "Hey Mills," she started while brushing some of her hair out of her face. "Who's this?" Finn looked a bit on edge as he looked between the two girls. He held his books tightly in his hands. "I gotta go. Nice meeting you Millie." He rushed out as he ran away from the two.

Millie found it odd that he ran in the opposite direction of school, but decided not to think about it. Iris removed her elbow from Millie's shoulder. Millie turned to her blonde friend with her arms crossed. Iris read that she was angry. "Really Iris? You had to interrupt my conversation with a cute boy?" Millie said very disappointed. Iris awkwardly shrugged her shoulders. "I'm sorry Millie." She apologized. Millie sighed and ran her fingers through her short, brown, curly hair.

Iris gently placed her hand on Millie's shoulder as she stared at her. "How are you feeling today?" She asked, knowing that today was not a good day for Millie and she was trying to comfort her. Millie sighed and looked into Iris' eyes. "I just want today to be over." She started as the two walked into school. Millie adjusted the strap on her backpack as she continued talking to Iris. "I want to rip my hair out and jump into space without a helmet so my head will explode." Iris was worried for her friend. "You'll be okay. You're strong and confident and it's almost your birthday." She stated. Millie flashed a smile at her as they made their way to their classrooms.

"Alright class," The brunette history teacher spoke up as he slowly paced around the front of his classroom. "Please open your books to page two hundred and six. Today we'll be discuss-" He stopped himself as he looked in the corner of the classroom to see a student sleeping. Mister Keery, the worst teacher on the planet because he's a douche bag, crossed his arms very displeased and let out an annoyed sigh. "Mister Matarazzo!" He raised his voice, startling some students in the process.

The student perked up, removing his grey hoodie from his head. Millie was sitting on the other side of the classroom, curiously watching the curly haired boy. "Would you like to learn something today?" Mister Keery asked in a very sassy tone. Some students lightly chuckled. The boy only rolled his eyes and sat back in his chair. "I'd like to get the fuck out of here." He mumbled to himself. Then Gaten turned to face a student next to him that Millie didn't know. "I got some good shit I gotta smoke, am I right?" He mumbled to the boy.

Gaten lightly chuckled and looked down at his desk. Millie looked up to mister Keery to see if he heard that. Indeed he did. He put his hands on his hips as he looked down at his shoes, scrunching his eyebrows. "What was that, Gaten?" He asked. Millie looked at her desk, hoping that there would be no trouble and that this fight would end peacefully. Gaten glanced up at mister Keery and shook his head. "Nothin'. Now, you gonna teach me or not?" He tested. Mister Keery was starting to get a little irritated by the student, but instead of holding a grudge, he decided that it'd be best to let it go, this time.

He just looked up at the student and nodded with his eyebrows still scrunched together. "Oh I'll teach you." He said as he walked behind his desk, going over what he would be teaching his class for today. A girl with long red hair and blue eyes silently giggled at mister Keery's unfunny statement.

He looked up at her and smiled. Millie glanced over at Gaten to see that he was silently talking to that same boy next to him. She couldn't hear what they were talking about, but she didn't care either. Gaten looked up at Millie and slowly stuck up his middle finger causing Millie to look down at her desk in disgust.

She knew Gaten Matarazzo. He tried to get Iris and Millie into smoking cigarettes, but Millie was uninterested. When she turned the cigarettes down, he spread untrue rumors about the girl doing cocaine. Everyone thought of her as some sad, lonely, coke whore. It was all a lie, but everyone believed him. No matter what Millie does, everyone will still treat her terribly.
