The sun went down as they sat in the sand near the lake together. She was still in handcuffs and a shock collar while he now possessed the keys and the remote. It was just to make sure she wouldn't do anything stupid like attack him or run away. Deep down, Finn hated himself for doing that because he actually trusts Millie. But it's kind of like a rule to try and prevent your hostage from escaping. It was obvious, and Finn had a feeling that because he had kidnapped her, that she wouldn't trust him as much or at all.

"Where's Ava?" Millie suddenly spoke after a long period of silence between them. Finn looked up at her, staring into her eyes before answering her. "Jaeden took her out to get ice cream and to the arcade." Millie was surprised to hear that they were taking good care of her. She thought that they wouldn't know that she had a sister and would have forgot about her. The brunette wanted to know how he knew everything, like how he found out that Noah took inappropriate pictures of her or how he knew Sadie's bra size. But she was actually kind of scared to know.

Finn then remembered something after thinking about Ava for a quiet moment and pulled a folded pink piece of paper out of his jacket pocket. "She made this for you, for your birthday." The boy hands it to her with a smile. Millie observed the decorated paper for a moment as she wondered what Ava knew about all of this. Did Finn tell her that she was kidnapped? Millie looked up at the boy her age with curiosity, almost as if she were verbally asking. "She thinks you're at home sick. We let her sleep here in the house in her own bedroom upstairs."

Millie flashed a small smile before taking the gift her sister made her and reading the inside of the card out loud. "Happy eighteenth birthday, Millie...mommy and daddy miss you and love you very much...Ava." She began to tear up now. Millie never thought her sister would make her cry with a hand made birthday card covered in stickers and glitter. Finn felt horrible, but was unaware of the message inside of that card. He had no idea that it would make her upset. The tall curly haired boy brought Millie toward him for a hug and she sobbed into his chest. He stroked her hair and kissed the top of her head. He trust her and she trust him, which gave him a crazy idea.

She sat up and looked at him as she wiped away her tears. Finn took a little key ring out that had just a few keys on it. He held the one that would undo the handcuffs and grabbed her wrists, freeing her. She was surprised that he would do something like. She thought that the reason these were on her was because he thought she would escape. But she wouldn't escape, she wouldn't know how to go out on her own and try to find her way back home. Millie doesn't even know how far away from home she is.

Finn took the handcuffs off of her and sat them to the side. Then he took the key to the shock collar and took it off of her. No more shackles and straps to keep her in place. Her hands were free. She could extend her arms out as big as she wanted or let them dangle to her sides by themselves. She smiled a little as she realized how free she was now. Finn smiled too, before speaking. "It's not you that I want to kill," The girl looked up at him as he went on. "I've done all of this for you. That's why you're here, to admire my hard work." Millie felt oddly honored that he would do something this nice for her. It's been so long since someone has done something remotely nice for her and she liked that Finn was willing to protect her. It made her think back to something he had said yesterday.

"What did you mean when you said that you would protect me the same way I protected you?" It was something that she had been pondering for a while. She thought that maybe Finn had gotten her confused with someone else because Millie had never met Finn when she was eight. Or so she thought. Finn chuckles a little and began to tell the story of how they met. "Ten years ago, my foster dad took me to the playground claiming that he wanted me to get some exercise, but it was really so he could meet young single moms..."

Ten years ago

-Eight year old Finn Wolfhard sat under a tree alone as he watched all of the kids on the playground have fun. There were three boys pretending to be pirates on a ship, a baby in a swing being pushed by his mother, and a little girl who played under the structure with her dolls all by herself. Finn saw the structure as boring and uncreative. It was just your average playground complete with a slide, monkey bars, a little house like plastic structure with a roof, and maybe even a few "toys" at the top. Finn was just fine where he was, under the tree arranging pebbles around the trunk like a big ring.

The three boys on the playground who were pretending to be pirates had noticed the boy who was their age and stopped playing to whisper about him. "What the hell is he doing?" "I don't know." "Should we let him play with us?" "Are you crazy? That kid is a weirdo. Look, he's playing with rocks." The boys soon made the decision to approach Finn as he was wiping the dirt off of his pants. One of the three boys spoke to him. "What are you doing?" Finn felt anxiety with these kids talking to him.

He doesn't like it when people ask him questions, but they always do with him being a very intelligent child. He knows all of the capitals of the United States in alphabetical order, he's very good with algebra, and he even knows some of the greatest stories written by the greatest authors of all time like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer or A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Finn answered the boys anyway, not yet looking up at them. "I'm making a circle around the tree with these pebbles I found." The three boys all look at each other thinking the same thing, that Finn was weird. "Why?" Finn had hesitated to answer. "Because it's fun. I can identify-" "Fun?" One of the boys scoff. "More like dumb!" All three of them laugh at the boy by the tree, which caused the girl playing with dolls on the playground to look up and see those boys bullying young Finn. "And what's with the gloves? Are those your gardening gloves?" "N-no, I wear them so I don't leave any fingerprints behind." Finn explained, now feeling fearful of these boys.

"That's something a murderer would do!" One of them shouts. Finn was shaking now before one of them kicked him in the shoulder, causing him to fall back with a groan. The boys call him mean names as they kick and shove him around. The little girl on the playground watched in anger. She didn't like it when people hurt other people, it made her stomach twist. She threw her dolls down and stomped over to the scene to grab one of the boys by the collar of his shirt and pull him off. When she did that, the other two stopped beating on Finn. She spoke in her British accent. "Don't hurt him." "Screw off, you baby. Go back to playing dress up with your dolls."

She never felt so angry in her whole life. Even though she was the non bullying type, she still wasn't gonna take anybody's shit especially when she's sticking up for somebody. She yanked the boy off of him and punched him in the stomach. He hunched over holding his stomach crying, tears and all. His two friends look at him awkwardly, not knowing what to do, other than to just leave the playground without him, but he ran after them anyway.

Finn looked up at the girl. She had long brown hair and big big brown eyes too. Finn kinda thought she was pretty. "You saved me from those bullies?" He asked. The girl nodded and held her hand out for Finn to take. He smiled and grabbed her hand, she liked the feeling of his leather gloves no matter how beaten up they were. "I'm Mil-" "Millie Bobby Brown! Did you punch that boy!?" She looked back at her mother who sat on a park bench. Her mother stood up with a phone between her shoulder and her ear as she loaded her things into her purse." Come on, we're leaving!" Millie looked at the boy again and he frowns. He didn't want her to leave him, especially after she protected him from those bullies.

"I'm sorry, I have to go." She turned to walk away, but he stopped her. "Wait!" The brunette little girl turned around to face him again and he leaned in to give her a kiss on the cheek. He felt like this would be the last time he ever saw her, so he had to just go for it and he did. It made Millie blush and smile, she even tried to hide it with her hands as she giggled too. Finn grins nervously and unexpectedly, she leaned in to give him a kiss on his lips. It was a quick one, but to him it felt like something that had lasted forever. And he stood there in shock with his pale cheeks now pink. Millie then left with her mother, feeling happy about the encounter.-
