Caleb had Millie pinned to the ground with his hands around her throat as she was gagging and trying to pull him off of her. The two were just covered in blood as well. Caleb wasn't holding back, he planned to kill the girl for nearly trying to kill him. He picked her up by the neck and slammed her head against the floor a couple of times just to see if she'd die quicker. He was almost close until the door blew open and Winona was standing there with a shotgun pointed at the teens. "Hawkins police! Freeze!" She screamed.
Caleb let go of Millie and got off of her to put his hands up. The brunette on the floor lying in a puddle of blood gasped to catch her breath before getting up very slowly. "This isn't what it looks like," Caleb told the detective. "She tried to kill-" but he didn't finish his sentence, as he had been shot twenty-three times in the chest. Winona panicked and hid behind the bloody box in the middle of the room as Millie ducked to miss the bullets.
The boy had fallen onto the ground, dead. It was silent in the room then. The women didn't move either or make a sound. Then, footsteps. Winona stayed still and quiet, fearful of her life. Finn just stood there in front of her, cocking his head as he looked at the woman. "I don't blame you for not wanting me." He spoke. Detective Ryder opened her eyes and looked up at the young boy, not understanding what he was talking about. "But I fell like things would have been different if you had kept me, mother." Then it finally hit her. Her son. Finn Wolfhard is her son. She should have known this whole time. He's got her black hair, her dark eyes, her pale skin tone. But he's got his father's craziness.
Winona became angry again before slowly standing up. When she moved, Finn pulled a gun out and his jaw tightened. He kept the gun pointed at her head. Winona didn't care if he pulled the trigger or not. She was gonna say what needed to be said. "You're just like your father." Her tone was sharp. Finn got even angrier, but tried to stay calm. "No!" He shouts. His voice echoed through the empty white room. "You don't get it. I've never killed someone for sport, I have an assistant for that. And I haven't even killed anybody in the last ten years until tonight. But the reason why I've hurt these kids and have spent five fucking years devising a plan... is for Millie."
The brunette girl stood in the background by Caleb's dead body. "She didn't deserve what the world gave to her. She didn't deserve for her parents to be taken away, her family to shut her out, these kids to violate her and her privacy in every way that they could. Millie, just like everyone else on this terrible planet, deserved nothing but love and happiness." Finn was wrapping up his speech. He lowered his gun after seeing Winona's expression change into a soft one. "But honey, those kids died. One of them is in jail." "For raping and beating her! Are you seriously pinning that bitch as the victim!?" The boy lifts his gun again.
Winona saw his point, taking a deep breath. She actually doesn't feel too bad about Sadie being in jail or any of these kids dying. They did bad things to an innocent girl who really didn't deserve any of it. "These kids...these awful kids, they've hurt her and so I had to step in and protect her. I'm gonna give her the life that she deserves. One where she's not bullied or assaulted in any way and you and all of your cop friends are going to leave us alone and give us that peace that we've been missing." Winona considered it. Finn made so many good points that it was hard for her to say no. The two teens have been dealt some unlucky cards all their life. As a detective, she would say no and arrest them both immediately. But as a mother...
"...What kind of mother would I be if I didn't support my son's dreams?" She smiled. Finn grins before lowering the gun. The mother and son stood there in silence before they heard multiple footsteps from upstairs. "Oh no, I'm sorry. I called the police on the way here." The detective confessed with guilt. "Shit. Mills, we gotta go." Finn grabbed his girlfriend's arm and dragged her towards the tunnel. "Wait, Ava! Watch over her, please! Ava!" The brunette cries out as she's pulled down the escape route. Winona mentally promised that she would protect Millie's little sister. It was the least she could do.
The cops made their way down to the basement. They found everything, including Noni who had put her hands up when the police found her. They searched the cave for Finn and Millie, but they didn't find them. They got away quickly. The police also found little Ava hiding in a bath tub crying and brought her to Winona to comfort her. It was a crazy night and certainly one that Ava or Winona would never forget.
