I froze, before leaping into action. I knew there was a reason I had felt so bad about coming here, I just didn't know what it was.
Now, I knew. And I wish I could rewind time.
The worst case scenarios flashed through my mind, most consisting of us finding Daryl dead. I dashed out of the store, the others following me. "Which way did they go?" I barked out. Andrea pointed to the right. I left the others in the dust as I ran like my life depended on it.
When I finally stopped, I was winded, and in front of a worn down warehouse. "Faith! What was that?" Rick hissed lowly.
I ignored him, along with the bad feeling that was trying to knock me off my feet. I took out as many weapons as I could and knocked on the door politely, taking a few steps back so that I was standing in a row with the others. The giant door opened slowly, creaking on it's old and rusted hinges.
Around twenty people rushed out the door, surrounding our little group. We were trapped. Slow clapping echoed around the silent place, as their leader walked out from the ranks. "Well, well, well. If it isn't my old friend, Trinity." A mocking voice said.
My blood ran cold as I looked up. There he stood; my ex-best friend. "Trevor." I replied coldly. "I see you're doing well. Leader of this pack of wolves."
"Why, of course! We both know I'm just too 'savage' to be anything but." He replied in false happiness.
"So how'd it happen? You kill him in his sleep or what?" I asked.
"Oh, I didn't kill him. He resigned." With a low whistle from him, the old leader showed up behind Trevor.
"I thought you killed her!" He exploded at Trevor as soon as he realized it was me.
"What can you do about it now old man? You retired. You're powerless now!" Trevor snarled.
"What happened to you? You were at least decent. Your a criminal now. What did they do to you?" I shot. "You were my best friend! But you tried to kill me, because you wanted to join this group of criminals! Look at me now, Trevor. I've found a decent group to join, and you could have too! But you tried to kill me. And nobody can go back on that action. Give me my friend back, and we can go. With no harm done to any of your gang."
Trevor snorted, raising an eyebrow. "We won't have any harm done to us? Please. We out number you, by many."
"I'm guessing that you forgot." I had to fight to keep the smirk off of my face.
Mortification briefly flashed across his face, before an emotionless mask settled. "Forgot what, Trin?"
I flinched when he called me by my old nickname, but plunged on, "That the only reason you're alive today is because instead of killing you like I should have, I spared your life and let you live. I could kill you in a second."
I could tell that got to him. His face paled, and I could see a slight tremble in his hands. He didn't reply to my threat, so I carried on. "You kidnapped one of my..." I frowned slightly. I couldn't say love interests. Trevor wouldn't give him back if he knew that. I couldn't say boyfriend, I didn't know what we were. I couldn't say one of my own, because he wasn't mine, nor was I the one to lead this group. "Friends." I finished.
His eyebrow raised slightly. "You mean the guy with the lame crossbow and weird face?" He asked, "The guy who tried to kill me?"
I fought to keep the smirk off of my face, as I imagined Daryl trying to kill him, but I couldn't. "Yup. That's the one.'
He scowled fiercely at me, "Of course he is."
I shrugged, "What can I say? I know how to pick 'em."
