"She's gone." I whispered to him, my lips moving against his neck. "All because of him." I tightened my grip around Daryl's neck.
"But she gave us you. She gave me you." He answered.
"It should have been me!" I cried. "It should have been me."
Daryl grasped my thighs, picking me up. Having no choice, I wrapped my legs around his waist, his arms shifting from my legs to my lower back to hold me up. "It's alright, Faith. You're here, and that's all that matters." While my back was turned, he sent a meaningful glare at Rick before carrying me back to his tent.
He set me down, zipping the tent closed before facing me. "Faith, calm down. Okay? You need to calm down." He said.
I nodded furiously, forcing my emotions down. I took measured breaths, calming my racing heart. "Okay. I'm calm now." I said. "I'm good."
"Great. Now I can yell at you. What the hell was that?" Daryl spat.
I stared at him, taken aback. "Pardon me?" I asked.
"You heard me. What was that?" He reiterated.
"That's why I lied, Daryl." I snapped, walked out of the tent and standing up. "I don't know why you're suddenly PMSing, but I don't like it. You were sweet and caring five seconds ago. What gives?"
Rustling sounded behind me as Daryl followed me out. "You just showed your weakness to everyone. Including Ed." He said lowly.
I sighed wearily, the fight draining from me as soon as it showed up. "I don't care right now, Daryl. I couldn't bring myself to even if I tried. I'm too worn out to deal with him at the moment." After saying that, I turned and walked slowly to the RV. "You guys can come out now."
The door cracked open, curious yet hesitant eyes searching the clearing. Slowly, the kids filed out and joined their parents, immediately being hugged to their sides. Grumbling under my breath, I walked over and picked up my bow, trudging my way through the masses of people, before coming to the base of the tree and scaling it.
I propped my legs up against the tree, taking out my knives and cleaning each of them, a scowl etched permanently on my face. "No wonder I don't join groups. I start arguments everywhere I look." I muttered, cleaning my knife furiously. I finally allowed my mind to wander after having it tethered to reality for a while.
Immediately, my mind went to the kiss Daryl and I had shared. I hadn't had the time to go over it in my head fully. Now that I started to think about it, I could feel his lips pressed up against mine, his hands lightly resting on my hips. I sighed, my body sagging against the tree.
Immediately, I knew it was a bad idea.
Gravity overtook my body and I was sent tumbling from the tree branches. Wind whipped past me, tree branched slapping my face, whipping my body. I collided with the ground, breath rushing out of my lungs. I rolled over onto my stomach, breathing heavily. I remembered that I had been cleaning my knifes, and I jumped up with a shriek, running away from the tree. I felt my arm grow wet as I raced away from the tree. I cursed, my hand flying up to cover the dripping wound.
"What the hell?" Rick asked, walking forward, followed by Daryl. "What happened?"
"N-Nothing." I stumbled over my words, finding myself blushing at the sight of Daryl.
"Really?" Daryl's eyebrow raised. "You fell out of a tree, because of nothing?"
"U-Um... W-Well, not exactly nothing." I continued, darting my eyes from Daryl to the ground.
"What were you thinking about?" He asked.
I opened my mouth to answer, but I was cut off when Carol and Lori came up and ushered me to the RV, ignoring the calls of Rick and Daryl. I sat down heavily on a seat, putting my arm down and bandaging it tightly with a piece of cloth.
"So what's the real reason you fell out of a tree?" Lori questioned, removing the bandage I had just placed on my arm and cleaning the cut.
"I was.. thinking about the kiss Daryl and I shared." I mumbled, hiding my face behind my hair as I blushed yet again.
Lori and Carol giggled. "You guys are so adorable. So cute."
I scowled at them. "I'm anything but cute."
"Not you personally, your realtionship with Daryl!" Lori exclaimed, grinning.
I huffed, standing up. "Thanks for patching my arm up Lori. I'm going to go back to my tree and try not to fall out again."
I left the girls laughing and started on my way to the trees. I stopped, picking up the knives I had dropped and sliding them into their holders.
"Faith!" Daryl called, jogging up to me.
"Yeah?" I asked, turning to face him.
"I just wanted to make sure that you were okay." He said, grabbing my arm and inspecting it for himself.
I chuckled lightly. "I'm fine. Just a little cut. Nothing to be worried about."
"Okay." Daryl said, rubbing the cut carefully.
I smiled at him. "I'm fine. I promise." I grabbed his hand, moving it from my arm and giving it a comfortable squeeze.
"I'm sorry about earlier." He said quietly, looking down at me.
'It's fine." I waved his apology. "I was being rude too. It wasn't one-sided."
He smiled at me. "Are you going back up there? Or do you want to come sit by the campfire with the rest of us?"
I cast a glance at the tree. "I'll sit with you guys. Just let me put some of my knives away."
"Okay," He agreed.
I turned and started climbing when he called out, "Oh, and don't fall this time!"
I scowled, climbing quicker and sticking my knives in a sturdy branch before climbing back down. "I fell once." I said. "Once, and you're already giving me a hard time."
He bumped his shoulder into mine. "Well, it was pretty funny." He laughed.
I scowled and bumped his shoulder back.
