He was intrigued. The way she didn't even give him a chance to say something else as soon as class was over.

He stared at the door for a while. The door opened and closed plenty of times as the students went to their next class. Fortunately, he soon realized that he was the only person who was in class.

He quickly packed up his stuff and raced out of the classroom, hoping that the warning bell didn't ring yet. He walked into his next class, letting out a breath of relief that the teacher didn't yet come to class.

The class was noisy. Apparently, the students found the teacher's absence a perfect opportunity to talk to their friends. Luke wasn't that lucky that school year. He only had his friends in three of his classes. None of them that day.

Soon the teacher walked into the classroom and silence filled the place. He took out a clipboard and started taking attendance. He spaced out at that moment.

Much to his dismay, he couldn't get her image out of his mind. Even though she was already in another class, his mind was still able to imagine her sitting down next to him instead of the guy next to him.

He heard a faint voice that kept on saying the same thing, repeatedly. He then realized that it was his name. "Present." He said.

The teacher looked up and nodded slightly before proceeding with the rest of the list. Luke tried to focus the rest of the class. Too bad he couldn't, he thought.

The class ended faster than he thought. Not that he was complaining, he thought. He packed his stuff quickly and walked out of the class.

He looked up from the ground and found her putting stuff in her locker and taking things out of it, and into her bag. He smiled and made way to her. "Hi." He greeted.

She jumped a little and turned to him - hand on her chest - and gave him a confused look. "Hi. Do you need anything?" She said. "I'm sorry if that sounded rude."

He was amused at her politeness. Her behavior was different than the other High Schoolers there. It was like a fresh air after being stuck at the same place for quite a long time.

He smiled at the ground and looked up at her. He caught the faint blush that creeped onto her cheeks as she opened her bag, pretending to look for something.

"No actually. I just wanted to say 'hi'." Luke said."

She looked up at him. "Oh. Well then, hi." She gave him a smile. "I have to go now."

"Oh okay. I'll see you tomorrow, then?" He asked her.

She nodded. "Yes." She walked away.

"Bye, Khadijah." She stopped mid-track. She looked at him over her shoulder, smiling.

"Bye Luke." She then looked ahead of her and left the building.
