Confusion and worry filled the inside of Khadijah. She hasn't seen neither Luke nor Louisa the entire school day. It was lunch and she was sitting with Ava and Mia.
They were planning on the outing this weekend. Ava and Mia were talking about the newest Emma Watson movie. Khadijah couldn't help but notice that Ava and Mia were trying to act normally. That it was not suspicious that neither their Lou nor Luke showed up to school.
She still had hope that they would walk into the cafeteria doors and Louisa would sit with them.
But then she realized that there was only a class left before the school day ended. It was like her wish came true, Louisa and Luke ran into the cafeteria. Luke ran up to his friends while Louisa ran up towards them. There was tears in Louisa's eyes. Some were already running down her cheeks.
"Lou? What's going on?" Khadijah asked her, getting up.
Louisa didn't say or do anything except hugging Khadijah. She started crying even harder as she tightened her grip on her. Khadijah was able to calm her best friend down by running a hand down her back.
"Louisa, what's going on?" Ava asked her as both and Mia approached them.
Louisa pulled away and wiped her tears away. She smiled sadly at her friends. There was so much sorrow and pain in her eyes. Like all she wanted to do was curl up in a ball and cry for hours. It was the worst type of agony.
"I should have told you guys but... I just found out last night and I couldn't gather up the guts to tell you but," she paused. "We're leaving. For London."
The other three gasped as tears started to dwell up in their eyes. "W-what? When is that?"
Lou swallowed, "r-right... right now," she stuttered. "We came to say goodbye."
As she said that, Luke approached them to get his sister. But his eyes couldn't help but to connect with Khadijah's. Khadijah felt butterflies flew in her stomach but she quickly tried to dismiss the feeling.
This was not the time.
"Goodbye everyone," Luke said. He then looked again at Khadijah. She felt him cautiously move forwards. Towards her. She knew that he was aware that he could not get too close.
"Goodbye, Khadijah," he whispered, not tearing his gaze away from her.
"Goodbye, Luke," she whispered back.
She felt hands on her shoulders, they were Ava's. "We um... we gotta go," Louisa declared. "Let's go, Luke."
She looked one last time at Luke and Louisa before they walked out of the cafeteria. As she was about to sit down, she felt Luke's gaze on her. She waves slightly as he waved back before disappearing out of her sight.
This was the last time she saw the Bloomfield siblings.
Mia rubbed Khadijah's arm as she sat next to her. Khadijah leaned her head on Mia's shoulder as she sighed. "You really like him, don't you?" Mia asked her, just loud enough to be heard by Khadijah.
Khadijah turned to the window as she saw their car leaving. She nodded slightly, sighing heavily. "Yeah. I really did, didn't I?"
