P.S: If you can't handle reading about dissection, you can skip until I inform you it's over

The last class of the day, the last five minutes.

Khadijah always seemed to feel bad for the teachers scheduled as the last period. Ever since she was in kindergarten. She would always be the last one out the room. She would smile at her teachers and wish them a nice rest of the day.

But this time, Khadijah couldn't seem to bring herself to pity her teacher. Last period, and AP biology. You could imagine the rest. Part of pursuing her dream as a veterinarian, biology had to be her top priority.

But not when dissecting.

Khadijah held the scalpel in her hesitant, shaking hands as she stared at the body of the frog, wide open. She soon enough dragged her eyes away from the amphibian; not barring seeing the organelles out.

A/N: Okay. The dissecting part is over.

She then turned to her partner who simply gave her a look, with pity and sympathy crystal clear in her eyes. She took the scalpel away from her grip and nodded at her assuringly.

"Thanks Camille," Khadijah thanked her.

"You're welcome. I had a hunch that you were going to throw up all over the place."

Khadijah chuckled. "Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised."

The bell rang seconds after Khadijah's reply. All the students instantly took off their lab coats, their gloves and dropped the dissecting kits on their tables and bolted out of the room. And in matter of seconds, there was nobody left in the room but Camille, Khadijah, and their teacher.

The two girls walked out of the classroom and to their lockers. What usually happened, was that Khadijah just walked home since it was not that far from school.

But what was even more confusing, was that her dad's car was outside. She furrowed her eyebrows and walked to the car. She got in and turned to her father.

"What's going on?" Was the first thing she uttered to him the moment she entered the car.

Her dad smiled, making her even more confused. "It's a surprise." Khadijah groaned which caused him to laugh.

"Dad come on, I don't like surprises." He turned to her, still laughing and nodded. "I know that. I know that, kiddo."

"Kiddo? You haven't called me that in a while." He nodded, not taking his eyes off the road ahead.

"Mhm. I know that. And because it's been a while, I miss calling you that. So, I'm going back to calling you kiddo." She nodded, smiling.

"Yeah, Okay." Was all she said.

It was very easy to point out that Khadijah was a carbon copy of her mother. But it might take a while to know that she is exactly the opposite gender of her father. And that might have been what made them as close as they were. It was what made their relationship so amusing.

And maybe, just maybe it was what made her feel a connection with Luke. She might have found the younger version of her first love, her dad.
