Later that night, Ellie sat on the comfy couch of the living room as she retold the events of the park to Angie. The latter was a laughing mess on the armchair facing her.

"Angie!" Ellie exclaimed. Angie's reaction was one she did not anticipate. "It's not funny! I'm sure she learned to talk like that because of you!" she added hoping to stop Angie's laughing.

"Me?" Angie asked wearing a fake shocked expression on her face. She was the incarnation of mischief. "I only taught her how to speak to boys", she said defensively.

"Oh really and where did she learn to say 'you're not so bad yourself' to men, huh?" Ellie questioned with a look that challenged Angie to tell her otherwise.

"Well, I may have said that to a guy once when I was with Amber at the grocery store" she said ever so quietly to herself. But she quickly added, "but that's not my fault!" while lifting her chin in defiance and folding her arms in front of her with a confident smile.

"Do you have any idea how embarrassed I was when she said that?" Ellie exclaimed. Recalling the man's reaction to Amber's comment, she felt heat creep up her face in embarrassment.

Seeing Ellie's flushed face, Angie squealed, "are you blushing?" as Ellie blushed harder, she could not help but add, "so he really wasn't "so bad" huh?" she said making air quotes and wriggling her eyebrows at her friend.

Ellie caught up on the meaning of Angie's words and turned beet red as she cried out a "shut up".

Angie fell off the armchair in laughter. "Oh my! You're blushing over a stranger in the park!" she sat on the ground still laughing and wiping off tears on her cheeks.

"He's not a stranger! He goes there every day!" Ellie said without thinking. Oh no you didn't, scolded her subconscious.

"I knew it! I knew it!" chanted Angie while clapping her hands and smiling widely, still on the floor.

"Knew what exactly?" asked Ellie with a frown, confused by her friend's sudden joyful attitude.

"That there must be a reason why you go to the park every day the last few months", replied Angie.

"Oh come on, I go there to spend time with Amber you know that", said Ellie.

"Uh-huh, and what about the days that she is with mum or me, huh?" demanded Angie raising an eyebrow at her questioningly.

"I go there to write my story", Ellie stated, avoiding eye contact.

"And why can't you simply write it here?" questioned Angie lifting her other eyebrow.

"Because, the house is too quiet without Amber!" Ellie replied with an exasperated sigh.

"Oh spare me, you deserve to be happy once in a while", Angie said seriously.
