                                            ~ Chapter 14 –  Really Amber, even you? ~

The following day, when Matthew called, both women were late. Angie was still choosing what to wear while Ellie was giving Amber her bath. They had gone to bed past midnight, what with the preparations for the picnic.

So Matthew had gone up for a coffee while he waited for them.

They arrived at the church thirty minutes later to find that the pastor had already started his sermon. They got to their usual seats beside George and Helena to listen to the remaining of it.

At the end of the service, Helena turned to her daughters with a look that she wanted stern, "how many times do I have to tell you to come to church on time? Church starts at 9:15."

"I'm sorry Mom," Angie said with an innocent smile, "it's all Amber's fault; she wouldn't take her bath."

"That's not true!" defended the little girl, glaring at her aunt, "aunty Ange didn't want to get out of the bathtub, she said that she was relaxing her muscles! And she took ages to come out." As she finished she turned to Helena with an innocent look that put Angie's to shame.

Angie gasped dramatically, putting a hand over her heart while everyone laughed except Helena who was struggling to remain serious. Amber has picked up Angelica's habits. Clearly Ange has a bad influence on her, she thought. Fortunately, Ellie knows how to control the two of them. She was such a good mother, she watched the young woman laughing at her best friend.

She shook her head at Angie and turns to Matthew with a smile, "I believed we were not introduced, I'm Helena mother of the rebellious Angelica and Ellie. And this is my husband George," She said offering her right for Matthew to shake while pointing to George with her left hand.

"Matthew nice to meet you," Matt replied with a smile, taking her hand before shaking George's.

"Why am I the rebellious Angie and Ellie only Ellie?" Angie asked her mother, raising her eyebrows questioningly.

"Because it's true, you are rebellious while Ellie is so nice and obedient," she looked at the latter with a fond smile before giving Angie a mock pointed look, then added with a shrug, "you should learn from her." The others hummed in approval while nodding and Matthew chuckled; even Amber was nodding.

"Really Amber, even you?" Angelica asked indignantly to which the little girl only continued nodding. "Alright, I'll never teach you how to speak with boys again," she replied crossing her arms over her chest.

"That's not fair," exclaimed the little girl, stomping her foot.

"Alright, let's go," Ellie interrupted their banter, not wanting to assist another quarrel. "We have a picnic to attend to. Bye Mom, Dad, I'll see you guys later." She gave Helena and George hugs and kisses. Angie and Amber followed suit and Mathew exchanged farewell after which they all made their way to Matthew's car.

As they passed George's car, Ellie caught the eye of Helena who wiggled her eyebrows at her while gesturing at Matthew. Ellie chuckled with a shake of her head and turned to the front. Like mother like daughter, she thought.
