~ Chapter 19 - Please let him love her ~
It was a little before one when Ellie pushed open the door of the little family restaurant that Dean messaged her the address of a few days ago. The only communication she got from since she last saw him.
Funny how you only realised that now, her subconscious sneered at her. She shook the thoughts away while she took in her surroundings.
The restaurant was quite cozy with dark walls and potted plants here and there in tall white vases. The sounds of her heels were muffled by the grey carpeted floor as she made her way to the back of the restaurant towards one of the booths. All the while, Ellie noted how Amber was clutching her hand as they followed the waiter.
As they took their seats on the light grey booths, Amber was yet to peep a sound.
Which was very unlike her.
Once she thanked the waiter, Ellie turned to the little girl and found that she was on the edge of the seat, tracing the splashes of colors on the carpeted floor with the tips of her shoes, her lips pursed. Ellie felt her heart squeezing at the sight.
"Hey Sweetie, are you okay ? '' She asked gently, reaching to her little hands to give them a squeeze, ''are you feeling all right ?''
Her heart ached when her daughter lifted her head and she saw that her eyes were brimmed with unshed tears.
''What if he doesn't love me ?'' the words were a mere whisper and a tear fell on her pink chubby cheeks, as she looked at her mother, her eyes filled with sorrow. ''Is this why he never came before ?''
''Oh baby, don't say that,'' she scooted to Amber and picked her up to place her on her knees. ''Why would you think that ? Of course he will love you."
Oh God, please let him love her, she sent a silent prayer to the Lord.
