in which ~ we discover that kissing cures loneliness

finn's p.o.v.

the day went by fast. minutes passed like seconds, hours gone by in the blink of an eye.

"come with me." i whisper to millie, grasping onto her hand.

we tiptoe out of the living room.

we all were watching a movie but it's late and most of the others are now asleep.

i bring millie up to the roof.

she shivers as we step out into the cold air. i shrug off my hoodie, handing it to her.

she lets go of my hand and twirls over to the middle of the rooftop, lying down with her eyes to the sky.

i wander over, taking the space next to her.

"i-it's beautiful." she gasps, motioning to the stars and constellations.

i sigh staring at her wonderous eyes. a sky full of stars and i can't help but stare at her.

she stares, memorized by the small glistening balls of light filling the silent sky. her eyes twinkle with admiration, a smile twitches onto her mouth, leaving behind a look of pure grace.

i couldn't resist.

i kissed her, like her lips were air and i couldn't breath.

"finnie," she giggles, "your blocking my view."

i ly back down in a huff, seconds later, feeling her head rest on my chest. my pulse quickens. lightly i wrap my arms around her body, pulling her close.

god she's beautiful.

i smile so wide, my cheeks will hurt tomorrow but that's alright.

millie's p.o.v.

his heart beats lazily under my head.

i prop myself up, staring into his soft eyes. he looks at me. his hair's a mess and in the crisp moonlight, he looks handsome as ever and more human then i've ever seen him. "millie?"

"hmm?" i smile.

"w-will you be my girlfriend?" he asks, his voice small and brittle. he looks so vunerable in this moment.

i hesitate to answer.

"i-i guess i'm asking you to trust me." he breaths.

goosebumps rise on my arms.

i lean in and kiss him softly.

"of course i will, wolfhard."

he smiles bigger then the moon, making my stomach bubble with butterflies.

in the calm of the night, finn and i buzz like static on a radio. his slow heartbeat singing melodies in my ear. his smooth voice cooing sweet nothings. my body tingles with warmth even though the night is cold. the stars are brilliantly lit up tonight, the sky's alive. my eyelids begin to feel heavy, the strong pull of the night drawing me in. my limbs become motionless, barely working and i can't stop yawning.

"you seem sleepy pretty girl. should we go inside?" finn inquires, breathing warmly on the top of my head.

"no thank you." i reply, kissing his plump lips, softly. "can we just sleep out here? or will we get too cold?"

"i'll keep you warm pretty girl." finn whispers dangerously.

i smile up at him, his brown eyes painted like a canvas with the reflection from the stars.

the glint of dare in his eyes is infectious. sending shivers down my spine. he notices, pulling me closer and running his arms over mine, warmth flows through me.

he brings his lips close to mine, so they're almost touching. teasing.

of all the words in the english language, i'd say almost is the saddest. he was almost in love. she was almost good for him. he almost stopped her. she almost waited. he almost lived. they almost made it.

i'm not letting finn be another almost.

i finish what he started, sleepily and recklessly kissing him. we break from the kiss gasping for air that doesn't seem to be coming.

"you know..." he stops himself wandering into his unspoken thoughts, "before i met you, i never knew what it was like to be able to look at someone and smile for no reason." he grins kissing the top of my head.

he sure has a way with words. they always seem to fill my mind with sweet sugary thoughts.

slowly i drift off. his body keeping me warm in the freezing breeze of the night air.

caleb's p.o.v.

i watch silently as finn and millie slip away. a smile grows on my face as the lovers giggle through the appartment, heading to the hallway.

i look down at sadie, who's asleep in my lap. her soft ginger hair whisps around her face. her ocean blue eyes that i love are closed, slightly twitching through her dreams. her freckles like constellations covering her cheeks. her small perfect nose and her soft plump lips. i love this girl and i love that she's mine.

i bend down kissing her sweetly.

"mmmm." she mutters, rising from her slumber.

she blinks her eyes, the world coming into focus.

"rise and shine sleepy head."

"what time is it." she groans.

"i'm not sure, everyone fell asleep after the movie."

"huh." sadie grumbles pouting, "why'd ya wake me up?"

"cause i was lonely."

she sits up, kissing me slowly. i run my fingers through her hair.

i lay down sprawling on the couch and sadie snuggles up next to me. within seconds she's back asleep. i close my eyes and soon fall into a dreamless slumber.
