i'm completely and utterly alone.

my family died in an accident and i've been on the run from social services ever since.

there's only a few more weeks to go and they'll take me off their list. when i was little, i always looked forward to my 18th birthday but now, i'm not even sure if i'll be alive to see that day.

the human mind is truly the scariest phenomenon of all.

it feeds you the dark, ailing thoughts it thinks you should hear, stealing happiness from right under your nose.

today's going to be my last day, i'm sure of it. i've come to terms with it. i'm going to end it all tonight under the stars. i've been planing this for so long, going place to place, finding the perfect location where i can just go, no strings attached.

as i walk towards a gas station, hoping to grab breakfast, i hear a dog yelp in the distance. the lot is pretty much empty and looking for where the sound came from, i spot a rusty blue van parked by the building.
slowly, i wander over to it, dragging my small bag, filled with my few belongings, behind me.

the windows are covered in dust so pulling my sweater sleeve over my hand, i wipe it away. peering through the glass, i see the source of the noise. inside the van, is a large dog. i sigh, thinking of the poor dog trapped in this van, on such a hot day.

"hey um, that's my van."

i turn around coming face to face with a curly haired boy. trying to take a step back, i bump into the stranger's van, causing the alarm to go off and falling clumsily to the ground.

"hey... hey, are you alright?" asks the boy, reaching out his hand.

"i'm fine." i reply, ignoring the offer and pushing myself off the ground.

the boy reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out his car keys, shutting off the alarm.

i notice a scarlet stain forming on my sleeve. quickly i move my arm behind my back, hiding it from the strange boy and walking away.

"you don't seem fine to me." the boy shouts, running to catch up to me.

grabbing my wrists and holding them in front of me, he speaks quietly, "you're bleeding."

i stay silent and wriggle free from his grasp. he doesn't fight back, he just lets go and i head back towards the gas station.

"the name's finn, by the way!" i hear him yell after me in the distance.

i'm already inside by the time i turn around to make sure he isn't following me.

finn's p.o.v.

she's the most beautiful girl i've ever seen and i'm such a dumbass for grabbing her wrists. i mean who did i think i was, her boyfriend? for sure not, we just met and i go running after her and grab her wrists like some creep. damn it. she probably never wants to see me again. great job finn, you really blew it this time.

i jog back to my van remembering that bailey, my dog, is still in there. poor guy, i shouldn't of left him in there. bailey's a rescue, i got him a few years back. my mum always told me i couldn't get a dog, so when she passed away the first thing my brother and i did was buy bailey. i pull open the big sliding door and bailey immediately jumps out, licking my face.
