Friends can break your heart too, I'm always tired but never of you
-Olivia O'Brian and Gnash
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Sis?" The soft voice of Mustafa came at Negina as she shut tight her textbook to look at him. "Yes?"
"Can we talk?" Mustafa asks staring tall at the door.
"Therapist Negina is at all ears, step into my office and take a seat." Negina says jokingly patting on her bed. Mustafa sits down in the edge of her bed thinking deeply.
"I think I like someone." Mustafa confesses shamefully. Negina isn't surprised at all to hear this from her brother. More like happy that he opened up to her.
"I kinda noticed," Negina says rubbing his back calmingly. "Shafiqa?"
"I feel like I love her." Mustafa says looking at Negina.
"Oh god." Negina mumbles.
"I know it's against our religion and traditions, but I really do love her." Mustafa says but then looks away from Negina's eyes. "But is a shame she doesn't like me at all."
Mustafa whimpers a little and his eyes start shedding tears. "I don't know what to do. I've been thinking about her everyday since the project we got assigned to do together. Negina, I can't do anything about it."
"Hey don't give up on your love like that." Negina encourages. "Listen, she may reject you a billion times. All you've got to do is show her that you'll treat her right, and never betray her. And listen here is she doesn't like you, eff it! Your seventeen, your whole life is ahead of you."
"But what about mom and dad, they'll never let me date her." Mustafa says negatively.
"We'll deal with then later, ok? Right now all you have to worry about is getting Shafiqa to like you." Negina says kissing Mustafa's cheek.
"Hey," Mustafa says. "Thanks."
"I've got a question." Negina interrupts. Mustaf looks at her expectedly.
"Why did you come to me, why not to Naser? Ya know since your both guys and all..." Negina asks kind of trailing off at the end of her question.
"Well, it's just that he's caught up in his own love thing just like mine so I didn't want to trouble him and all." Naser admits.
Surprised, Negina continues, "he. Are you sure your talking about our brother?"
"Yeah. The other day I went to his room to get my guitar from him, but I saw him talking to some picture of Lema." Mustafa says.
"Oh, ok." Negina replies hesitantly. Negina's life is completely messed up. First her younger brother tells her that he loves a girl. Then she finds out that her older brother is apparently talking to a picture of her best friend.
What next? Little Sarah comes up to Negina and tells her that she's marrying Cameeon Dallas?
"I'm gonna go help dad with the calculator." Mustafa says getting up. Negina raises her eyebrow at him as he continues, "Him and mom are calculating your henna night expenses."
Negina rolls her eyes following her brother downstairs to the dinning room. Her parents are there; her dad sits at the table with his glasses on as a calculator in one hand and a pen in the other, while her mom sits across from him making a list of some sort.
"Look there's a professional DJ that's close by-"
"What in the whole dang world are you doing?" Negina cuts off her mom.
"Hey sweetie. We're getting ready for your henna night."
"Mom, I got engaged a week ago. And the henna night is held a day before the wedding. You don't have to plan now." Negina says duly.
"Oh yes before I forget, you know how much you didn't want to move in with your namzat." (Fiancé) her mom says.
"Yeah," she replies slowly.
"Well, I talked to Shakila and she said you don't have to." Negina's mom says pulling her glasses tighter up to her nose.
Negina couldn't help but jump up to kiss her mothers cheek tightly. Her mom cusses out a word, trying to get it f Negina's grip. "Mommy! You don't know how happy you made me!"
Skipping, happily, up to her room Negina freezes at Nasers door. She holds her fist up to knock on the door a few times, but it falls back when she hears her brother singing while playing music on his keyboard.
"Usually, I hold the power with both my hands
Tied behind my back
Look at how things change, 'cause now you're the train
And I'm tied to the trackYou've awoken me, but you're choking me
I was so obsessed
Gave you all of me, and now honestly, I got nothing left'Cause I loved you dangerously
More than the air that I breathe
Knew we would crash at the speed that we were going
Didn't care if the explosion ruined me
Baby, I loved you dangerouslyYou took me down, down, down, down
And kissed my lips quick goodbye
I see it now, now, now, now
It was a matter of time
You know I know, there's only one place this could lead
But you are the fire, I'm gasolineMmmm, mmm
"Naser?" Negina says entering his room without knocking.
"Yeah," Naser says turning on his rolling chair.
"Mustafa told me... that... you like Lema." Negina says bitting her bottom lip.
Naser is caught off guard by surprise, "So, what if I do." He says challengingly folding his arms over his chest.
Negina recoils, "there's nothing wrong with that, it's just... are you gonna tell her?"
Naser stands up from his chair, turning off the keyboard. "I don't know."
"You should. Your a great guy maybe a halal relationship?" Negina suggests.
"Hey, that could actually work." A smile lit up Nasers face.
"Duh. Therapist Negina is at all ears for any costumer... I mean patient." Negina corrects with a laugh.
"Ya know having a therapist in the house is fun." Naser chuckles taking a seat on the edge of his bed. "your future relatives are very lucky."
Negina frowns forgetting about all that excitement approximately a few minutes ago. She sits next to Naser, deep in thoughts.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Naser asks noticing the sadness in Negina's eyes.
"You know one day this girl came up to me, she told me to be careful while trying to fix a broken person. For you may cut yourself on their shattered pieces." Negina sad looking at nothing in the distance.
"Hey what are you talking about?" Naser bumps his sisters shoulder.
"Don't worry about it." Negina exhales a breath shaking her head a little. She wanted to talk about it, Damnit! Negina wanted to scream out her feelings. She wanted to should about them. But all she could do was whisper, "It's nothing."
"Alright." Naser says unsurely standing up to go out of the room.
"Alright," Negina repeats. Following her brother.
