"Fuck, Khalid I'll kill you!" Jasmine yells in pain as she squeezes his hand tightly. Her hair flying everywhere, her face not having a single bit of makeup: she was in labor. Jasmine has been in labor for the past twelve hours.

"It's a girl!" The doctor yells. A moment later, a loud screech was heard. The cry of his daughter. Khalid Malik's daughter is born. Jasmine breathes rapidly and smiles to herself. Within minutes her baby, wrapped in clean white swaddle, is placed on Jasmines chest and tears slowly escape from Jasmine's eyes.

"Khalid," Jasmine whispers, not looking him in the eye.

"Oh my god, did this really just happen? Oh my gosh, I'm a dad! Fuc- oh. No cussing Khalid!," He starts mumbling things to himself and Jasmine smiles at him and his silliness.

The baby's heart beats against Jasmine's and Jasmine knows that this would be her last happiness. "I'm sorry Khalid," Jasmine whispers.

Khalid raises his eyebrow. "Sorry? You've made me the happiest man alive, why are you sorry?!"

"It's just-" But Jasmine gets cut off again by Khalid. "Can I hold her?" He asks excitedly like a little boy asking his parents for his eidi on Eid. (Money/gift)

"Yeah, oh course. She's your daughter, too." Jasmine says and raises their baby and slowly places her in her fathers arms. "Oh my gosh." He whispers, unbelievably.

"She's so pretty," Khalid smiles. "She looks just like you, baby."

And this was true. Jasmine and Khalid's baby looked like a copy of Jasmine. She inherited Jasmines deep hazel eyes and light brown skin. She has Jasmine's beautiful smile and long eyelashes.

"I love you baby girl." Khalid whispers to his daughter.

A knock on the door interrupts their moment and a nurse comes in. "Hello, my name is Maribeth, and will be your nurse for today."

And she continues, "What would you like to name your little angel?"

Jasmine raises her voice, "Raihana."

The nurse looks at Khalid for approval. But khalid was busy looking at Jasmine. Raihana. It seemed so familiar to him. Where had he heard this name before?

"Dad? You okay with that?" The nurse asks, when Khalid doesn't answer the first time.

"Raihana, Yes." He confirms.

"Spelling?" The nurse asks getting her pencil ready. Jasmine spells out her baby girls name and the nurse gives them a smile before leaving out the door.

They are left alone with their child for half an hour before doctor walks into the room, after knocking of course. Jasmine places Raihana inside the little crib and looks at the doctor.

"Jasmine," The doctor half smiles walking towards the couple. "First, I would like to congratulate you on your beautiful little girl."

"Thank you." Jasmine and Khalid say in unison.

"And Jasmine," He sighs. "I was notified that you have Amniotic fluid embolism, which explains why you fainted and had such a difficult birth."

"Yes, I-I know that." Jasmine whispers.

"I don't!" Khalid cuts in, "what does 'amniotic fluid embolism' mean?"

The doctor sighs rubbing his forehead before replying, "Amniotic fluid embolism is a very rare complication of pregnancy in which amniotic fluid, fetal skin or other cells enter the woman's blood stream and trigger an allergic reaction. Women with this condition may collapse suddenly during the birth of their baby and it often results in the death of the mother."

Khalid's eyes go wide, "w-what? No." Khalid refused to believe that Jasmine will die. He turns to Jasmine, "you knew? And you didn't bother to tell me!"

"I'll be back later." The doctor says and exits the room and leaves the couple to their much needed conversation.

"Khalid," Jasmine starts to explain, "I know what trouble you went through for me and our relationship. I know you had to leave Negina and your family. I couldn't kill this baby, and please, try and understand."

"Understand what? We could live without children! We could adopt children! I can't live without you!" He exclaims at Jasmine.

"Khalid, I would die anyways." Jasmine looks down, "I have Thyroid cancer." She whispers.

Khalid's eyes and face soften hearing that. He realizes that he has been the worst boyfriend in the world. How could he have gone nine months. NINE MONTHS! Without noticing any of this. Khalid hates himself, he despised himself.

He pulls Jasmine into his arms, creasing her hair gently, as they cry slow tears. "I'm so sorry, Jasmine." He whispers. "Why didn't you tell me all of this? I could've helped, we could've taken you to Switzerland, they have great doctors there. My friends aunt was cured."

"I panicked. I found out at the time when they asked me weather I wanted to keep this baby or not." Jasmine says.

"I was afraid of telling you all of this because you would've wanted me to abort this baby."

"We could've found another way to have kids, we could've treated your cancer." Khalid explains, crying.

"Could've, should've, would've... but now it's too late..." Jasmine sobs.

"Jasmine, I'm sorry. Sorry for everything that I've ever done. I'm sorry for getting engaged to Negina. I'm sorry for ruining your life."

Jasmine slaps his cheek, "don't you dare say that. Your the best things that's ever happened to me. Before you they were pass by idiots. I knew you were the one. But please promise me one thing." Jasmine says. And suddenly starts coughing.

"Jasmine," Khalid yells as her eyes close and struggle to open again. Khalid runs to the door, holding his head out and yelling for a doctor. He quickly returns to Jasmine's side.

"I promise baby, just tell me." Khalid says pressing his lips to hers. Who knows, maybe even during their last kiss.

"Promise me, you'll find... Negina." She coughs out in between breaths.

Negina? She's alive? Who cares...

Where are the doctors!

"Khalid I love you." She chokes out and closes her eyes. Her eyes twitch, and her breath slows.

"Jasmine, don't leave me baby, please..." he yells. "I promise Jasmine." He whispers kissing her hands over and over again. "I promise baby."

The doctors and nurses enter in a hurry and Khalid gets pushed out of the room with the Raihana in his arms.

Seconds pass. Minutes pass. Maybe even an hour passes by. But Khalid stands by the door, waiting for the doctors to come out. He wished for them to come out and tell him that Jasmine is breathing, that Jasmine is fine.

One of the doctors comes out and sighs while looking towards Khalid. He sighs, and lays Khalid's shoulder. "Son, I'm sorry for your loss."

Khalid falls down on one of the plastic chairs, processing the words of the doctor. He started crying. He was alone. All alone. No family, no one to help him up. It was only Jasmine and Khalid, and now is only Khalid and Raihana. On a quest to find Negina.

"I promise Jasmine, I promise I'll find Negina."
